The Indian Institute of Technology Patna is an institution that was established in 2008 with an aim to help students learn the values of Science and Technology in an easy and effective way. The institution is a milestone for the student who wishes to pursue science and Engineering courses from an institution of repute. The institution offers 18 courses covering different disciplines of Engineering, Science and Technology. Eligibility Criteria for the Admission

The Indian Institute of Technology Patna admissions begins with the participation of the candidates in the entrance exams for these courses. There is a complete process that needs to be followed by the candidates. The first step is meeting the eligibility criteria prescribed in detail for the offered programmes. The IIT Patna eligibility criteria for various courses have been mentioned in detail in the pointers given below. Candidates are advised to go through the details thoroughly and then proceed further with the other stages of IIT Patna admissions.
In the pointers given below, candidates will further get to know about the admission process and counselling procedure of the Indian Institute of Technology Patna. This will help students get a better idea of the admission process for all the courses.
For B.Tech
IIT Patna B.Tech Eligibility Criteria 2019
Candidates who are planning to pursue Bachelor of Technology courses from IIT Patna must know that they need to produce their 10+2 or equivalent passing marksheet. A minimum of 60% is a must in 10+2 or equivalent exam. Relaxation of 5% has been planned for the candidates belonging to SC, ST, and other backward classes category. It is to note that the certificate issued must be from a reliable, recognised and known institution/ school/ board. Candidates will also have to produce their entrance exam marksheet along with their 10+2 marksheet.
Only the candidates who have achieved the cutoff marks for the entrances shall be considered as eligible for the B.Tech courses offered by the institution. The entrance accepted for the B.Tech courses are JEE Main and/or JEE Advanced.Â
IIT Patna B.Tech Application Process 2019
The Indian Institute of Technology, Patna admission process consists of registration procedure and submission of relevant and related documents. For the registration process, candidates will have to visit the official site of the institution.
With the valid credentials, candidates can register for the IIT Patna admission selection process. Candidates must also refer to the advertisements published in newspapers and on the official site around the month of March every year. The candidates will then be directed to get the admission form along with other related forms either through the official website or through centre of admission at the IIT Patna campus. After the completion of this stage, a list of shortlisted candidates will be released. These candidates will be called for the counselling process and seat allocation round.Â
IIT Patna B.Tech Selection/Counselling Process 2019
The Indian Institute of Technology Patna counselling process caters to the seat allocation and final selection of the candidates for the programmes offered by the institution. JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) will be responsible for allocating seats for the B.Tech candidates appearing through JEE Advanced. For candidates appearing through GATE and JAM, the seats will be allocated by the concerned administrative department of the Indian Institute of Technology, Patna.
The documents submitted will be scanned during the IIT Patna counselling process. The final selection of the candidates will be based on the document verification and the entrance exam score submitted by the aspirants. It is to note that the documents submitted must be valid and correct as any imitation or false statement found shall cancel the candidature of the aspirants. Legal actions might also be taken as per the offence committed by the candidate/s.Â
For M.Tech, MSc
IIT Patna M.Tech and M.Sc Eligibility Criteria 2019
Master of Technology and Master of Science courses are available for the aspirants of IIT Patna. The aspirants planning for Masters courses from the institution must be a graduate in the related stream. A minimum of 60% is a must for the candidates with graduation or equivalent degree. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in relevant or related B.Tech courses will be considered as eligible for M.Sc courses.
Aspirants must produce the marksheet of their entrance exams attempted for taking admission to the Indian Institute of Technology, Patna. The entrance that the M.Tech aspirants must opt for is GATE. Cut-off marks of this exam will lead the candidates through the next stage of the admission process for the Master’s courses. The Joint Admission Test (JAM) entrance is required for M.Sc courses offered by the institution.

Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarship
 For B.Tech students with financially weak background, Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarships are provided by the institute on merit.
To promote education, increase the literacy rate and maintain a balance in the society, the Indian Institute of Technology, Patna Scholarships have been made available for selected candidates. These scholarships are delivered on the framework of the Merit – cum – Means (MCM) system. It is a way to award the students who not only belong to a financially weaker family background but are also meritorious in their academics. The IIT Patna MCM scholarships are given only to the students of the Bachelor of Technology courses offered by the institution. There are eligibility norms prescribed by the institution for selecting such students. Details of the eligibility criteria can be drawn out from the college administration section for which the students are advised to visit the IIT Patna campus.
It is important for aspiring candidates to know that they must carry a set of documents such as certificates related to the financial condition of the family and academic background of the candidates while claiming the scholarships through the defined sources of the institution. With the help of these scholarships, students will get a chance to continue their courses in the institution along with other benefits as prescribed considering the supportive documents submitted by the students. Submitting the CGPA score on regular intervals is a must for the ones who have acquired the scholarship from the institution in the first semester of the B.Tech course. Â Â

The Indian Institute of Technology Patna campus is spread over 500 acres of land. The campus is close to the market area making it convenient for the students to buy their daily necessities.
The classrooms are built with digital facilities and smart class features in order to give a different learning experience to the students. The IIT Patna central library consists of a number of books and periodicals along with a section of CDs termed as CD library. E-journals and a separate section for news are also available in the central library of IIT Patna.
Laboratories for different disciplines are also available within the IIT Patna campus for its students. Students are free to learn new experiments and try their experimental thoughts out with the help and guidance of mentors present. The labs are furnished with the latest techno-friendly equipment so that carrying out the experiments becomes simple and quick. Both the central library and the labs are spacious enough to accommodate a good number of students. The arrangements are monitored on a regular basis so that the students may not face any kind of difficulties while gaining knowledge.
The institution also has seminar halls, auditorium, open theatrical ground, conference room, sports grounds, common rooms, incubation centre along with a separate administrative block. A number of functions are carried out in these areas which include seminars, workshops, talk shows, cultural events, sports events, debates, etc. Students are encouraged to participate in all of these events so that they may open up in a better way and be ready to face the world outside the college campus.
The IIT Patna internship sessions have been made compulsory for the students. During the internship tenure, students get a chance to learn and experience the actual working of the industry. This in a way also helps them to prepare for the placements. The IIT Patna placements are conducted for the students of the final year. A number of top companies are invited for the placements to select a set of best candidates for their openings. The placement cell of IIT Patna looks after organising placements for the students.
Apart from an effective placement cell, the institution also has the availability of 24*7 security which makes IIT Patna a secure environment for the students. CCTV cameras and security guards are present at every corner of the institution. The availability of pharmacy and medical support has also been made a part of the institutional advantages that the students must know about.
