National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology Joint Entrance Examination


NCHMCT JEE is an entrance examination conducted every year by National Council of Hotel Management & Catering Technology to offer admissions in hospitality and hotel administration. NCHMCT was established in 1982, is an autonomous body under the ministry of tourism, Government of India. 

Aspirants can take admission in 19 State Government Institutes, 21 Central Institutes of Hotel Managemen, 14 Private Institutes of Hotel Management (affiliated with NCHMCT) and 1 Public Sector Undertaking Institute.

NCHMCT JEE 2020 Eligibility

  • Candidate must have passed 10+2 from a recognized board or its equivalent with English as one of the subjects. It is mandatory for the student to have passed English as a core subject of study.
  • Candidates appearing for 10+2 or equivalent examination are also eligible to apply for NCHMCT JEE on the provisional basis. The admission will be canceled if the proof of having passed the 10+2 examination or equivalent is not presented at the time of counseling or admission.

Detailed Eligibility Criteria for NCHMCT JEE 2020

The detailed eligibility criteria of NCHM JEE 2020 can be checked below –

NCHM JEE 2020 Age Limit:

  • The upper age limit for candidates from General and OBC category is 25 years as on July 1, 2020. Candidates born on or after July 1, 1995, are eligible to apply for the examination.

  • The upper age limit for candidates from SC/ST category is 28 years as on July 1, 2020. Candidates born on or after July 1, 1992, are eligible to apply for the examination.

  • The upper age limit for Physically Challenged applicants shall be the same as per the category he/she belongs to, i.e., General/SC/ST/OBC

Note: The Date of Birth (DoB) as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/Pre-University Certificate of candidates shall be accepted. This certificate needs to be presented by candidates in original at the time of counselling, failing which the candidate will not be considered for counselling/admission.

Physical Fitness Criteria for NCHM JEE 2020

  • Candidates who successfully qualify the entrance exam, they must provide a physical fitness certificate at the time of admission. This particular certificate will have to be provided by a registered medical practitioner.

Academic Qualification required for NCHM JEE 2020

  • To become eligible to apply for NCHMCT JEE 2020, applicants should have qualified 12th class or equivalent from a recognised board with English as the main subject.

  • Appearing applicants in 12th standard are also eligible to apply for NCHMCT JEE 2020. 

  • Those appearing in 12th standard or equivalent examination can also appear in NCHMCT JEE 2020 on a provisional basis. However, they must submit their proof of qualifying the 12th class exam along with other eligibility conditions at the time of admission or by  September 30, 2020.

Note: If an applicant is found ineligible at a later date even after admission to an Institute, his/her admission will stand cancelled.

Qualifying exams for Indian Students:

Applicants are eligible to apply for the NCHMCT JEE, if they have passed one of the qualifying exams mentioned below, the details are given below:

  • Applicant should have a plus two level examination in the 10+2 pattern of Senior Secondary education (SSE) of any recognised Central/State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education and Council for Indian School

  • Certificate Examination or State Boards of Secondary Education.

  • High School Certificate Examination of Cambridge University.

  • Applicant should have Intermediate or two-year PreUniversity Examination organised by a recognised Board/ University. 

  • Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in a foreign country recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 pattern of Senior Secondary education. 

  • General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.

  • H.S.C. Vocational Examination approved by NCVT and SCVT of concerned State. 

  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects including English as one of the subjects, result of which should be available up to 30.09.2020.

NCHMCT JEE 2020 Reservation Criteria

As per the rules of Government of India, applicants belonging to certain categories are admitted on the basis of the seats reserved for them. The allocation of the seats for qualified and eligible applicants is in accordance with the reservation criteria of NCHMCT JEE 2020. All affiliated institutes of the council follow the reservation criteria.

The NCHMCT JEE 2020 reservation policy states the percentage of seats that will be set aside for candidates belonging to the reserved categories such as OBC, SC, ST, PwD etc. To apply for the reserved category seats in the NCHMCT JEE 2020 participating colleges, the candidates have to mention the category they belong to during the NCHMCT JEE 2020 application process.

  • Non Creamy Layer (OBC–NCL) category are as per the Central list of Other Backward Classes available on National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC), Government of India. Thus, the candidates falling in this list may mention OBC in the Category Column. State list OBC Candidates who are not in OBC-NCL (Central List) must choose General.

  • For any category of disability ( locomotors, visual, dyslexia, speech, and /or hearing) benefit would be given to those who have at least 40% physical impairment.

What After NCHMCT JEE 2020 Eligibility?

After the aspirants check out the NCHMCT JEE 2020 eligibility criteria and apply for the NCHMCT JEE 2020 entrance exam, they will be required to wait for the release of the NCHMCT JEE 2020 admit card. The admit card for NCHMCT JEE 2020 will be available for the candidates to download from the official website of National Testing Agency (NTA).

NCHMCT JEE 2020 Admit Card

NCHMCT JEE 2018 Admit Card will be available on the NCHMCT JEE Official website after the successful registrations. NCHM will release the admit cards in the 3rd week of April 2018.

NCHMCT JEE 2020 Exam Pattern

NCHMCT JEE 2018 is an offline Written Examination. The paper consists of five sections-

  • Numerical Ability and Scientific Aptitude – 30Marks
  • Reasoning and Logical Deduction – 30Marks
  • General Knowledge & Current Affairs – 30Marks 
  • Aptitude for Service Sector – 50Marks
  • English Language – 60Marks

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued the detailed NCHMCT JEE 2020 exam pattern to let candidates know about the marking scheme, marks distribution, syllabus and section weightage. NCHMCT JEE 2020 will be conducted on April 25, 2020.  Through the NCHMCT JE 2020 exam pattern, candidates get a fair idea about the overall format of the exam structure and as well as NCHMCT JEE 2020 Syllabus.

NCHMCT JEE 2020 question paper consists of the objective type of questions. The question paper is divided into 5 parts namely Numerical Ability and Analytical Aptitude, Reasoning, and Logical Deduction, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, English Language and Aptitude for Service Sector. The total number of questions is 200. The test paper is bilingual, that is, all questions are available in both English and Hindi language, the only exception being the English Language section. The total duration of the exam is of 3 hours. It is advised that the aspirants must reach the exam centre half an hour before the examination starts.

NCHMCT JEE 2020 Counseling Details

Online Registration is mandatory for all eligible candidates to be considered for seat allotment in the 1st and 2nd round of counselling. Eligible candidates are required to register ONLINE through Internet ( from places convenient to them during the prescribed period. The procedure to be followed is described here.

Access the website and click on “Online Registration and Choice Filling”.

Register as a new candidate by clicking on “New candidate!! Register here” link. Read the instructions given on the screen and click on“Register”.

Register by entering the information (as indicated in the JEE result) against the following fields:-

Roll number

Application number

Candidate’s Name

Date of Birth

Candidates will be permitted to proceed with the registration process, only if these data entered by them match the data as available with the JEE-2015 database of NCHMCT. The candidates will be required to choose password and security question and their answer.

The password must consist of minimum EIGHT characters & maximum 13 characters and must be a combination of alphabets (lower or upper case), numeric characters and special characters. (Passwords are case sensitive. That means ‘A’ and ‘a’ will be treated as different characters. An example of a valid password is: aBC1#23$)

For subsequent logins, candidates will be able to login directly with their respective Roll Number as Login ID and the chosen password as Password. Candidates should remember to log out at the end of their session so that the choices saved cannot be tampered with or modified by unauthorized persons. Candidates are advised to record/remember their password for all future logins.

Candidates are advised not to disclose or share their password with anybody. Neither NCHMCT nor NIC is responsible for violation or misuse of the password of a candidate.

If a candidate forgets his/her password, the additional information (Security Question and Answer) provided by the candidate at the time of registration will be used to issue a new password. Hence, it is mandatory for every candidate to enter the required additional information as indicated in the registration form at the time of registration.

Candidates can change their passwords after login, if desired.

After login, the personal data of the candidates (as per the JEE result data base) will be automatically displayed on the screen. Candidates must verify their personal data. In case of any discrepancy, candidate will be allowed only once to correct the data in respect of category, PD, KM and Gender in the following ways:

Category can be updated from (SC/ST/OBC-NCL) to General but vice versa is not allowed.

Sub Category (Person with Disabled) can be changed from Yes to No, but vice versa is not allowed.

Kashmiri Migrants (KM) can be changed from Yes to No, but vice versa is not allowed.

Change of gender is permitted.

Changes in the following fields are not permissible under any circumstances

NCHMCT JEE 2020 Cut-off

NCHMCT JEE 2020 cut-off is released after the result declaration. NCHMCT JEE 2020 cut-off will depend on the ranks scored by the candidates in the entrance exam and based on the cut-off of NCHMCT JEE 2020, qualified candidates will be admitted across all the participating institutes of NCHMCT JEE 2020

NCHMCT JEE 2020 will be conducted on April 25, 2020. After the result declaration of NCHMCT JEE 2020, the cut-off will be released for different categories in the form of opening and closing ranks. Candidates must note that the cut-off of NCHMCT JEE 2020 will depend on various factors such as the difficulty level of the exam, number of appearing candidates, the total number of seats, last years’ cut-off trends and performance of the candidates in the entrance test.
