Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology, New Delhi OverviewMinistry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) Government of India set up an Engineering College called Delhi Institute of Technology in the year 1983 to cater to the growing demand of workforce in the technology field. In its foundation year, the then Delhi Institute of Technology started its academic programme with around 45 students who were admitted to Electronics and Communication Engineering. The course was an Undergraduate programme which was regulated by the Faculty of Technology, University of Delhi. In successive years, the institute added new programmes like Computer Engineering, Manufacturing Processes & Automation Engineering and Instrumentation & Control Engineering to its curriculum.In the year 1986, the institute was granted administrative autonomy and in the following year, the institute was listed as a Society in the name of Delhi Institute of Technology under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. In 1989, PhD programmes along with some Postgraduate programmes were inducted by the institute out of which four postgraduate programmes got approval from AICTE in 1994. Located in South West Delhi-Dwarka, the NSUT campus is spread over a vast area of 145 acres where the built-up area consists of academic buildings, administrative building, girls hostel, boys hostel, library, staff residences etc.The institute operated from its old campus at I.G Block Kashmere Gate during its budding years till the year 1997 when the then Prime Minister of India Sh. Atal Bihari Vajpayee inaugurated the new Dwarka campus in New Delhi. During the same year, the institute was renamed as Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology (NSIT) to honour the renowned freedom fighter and founder of Azad Hind Fauz, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The Lieutenant Governor of National Capital Territory of Delhi renamed Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology as the Netaji Subhash University of Technology under the Delhi Act 06 of 2018 which permits the upgrade and reconstitution of Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology as a non-affiliating Netaji Subhash University of Technology. It granted the institute right to provide education and research facilities in streams of technology, engineering, humanities, sciences, management and social sciences.The undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate programmes in the Netaji Subhash University of Technology is affiliated to the University of Delhi. NSUT presently offers programmes like B.E in Electronics and Computer Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering and many such courses at the undergraduate level. Admission to these undergraduate courses in NSUT is subject to the candidate?s marks obtained in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-MAIN) conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) every year.
