NEET PG 2021 Cut Off, and Previous Year Cut off

NEET PG cut off in 2021 will be announced by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) in the last week of January. The minimum qualifying marks required to participate in the admission process will be cut off from NEET PG 2021. The cut-off for NEET PG will be the basis for shortlisting candidates for MD / MS / PG Diploma courses in India. NEET PG 2021 cut-off is the minimum marks needed for the applicant to qualify for the examination. A candidate who fails to secure the minimum marks required to clear the examination he/she will not be eligible to attend the NEET PG counseling 2021. 

NEET PG 2021 cutoff will be different for candidates belonging to different categories. The standard percentile cutoff for NEET PG set by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) is as follows:

  • Unreserved category candidates: 50th percentile
  • Unreserved category PWD candidate: 45th percentile
  • Reserved category candidates (including reserved category PWD candidates): 40th percentile

However, the NBE releases the NEET PG cutoff marks for each group along with the data. Candidates must remember that the scores above the NEET PG cutoff 2021 percentile will not guarantee their admission. It is mandatory to engage in the NEET PG 2021 counseling for admission to the desired course/college. Since the cut-off of NEET PG 2021 will not be available for a while, candidates will refer to the cut-off patterns of previous years in order to estimate the difficulty level of the test.

NEET PG Cut off 2020 (Original)

The original NEET PG cut off 2020 was released on January 30. It was later revised owing to the shortage of qualified candidates for admission to MD/MS/Diploma/DNB courses.

Factors determining NEET PG cutoff

  • Number of candidates appearing for NEET PG exam
  • Total number of seats available
  • The difficulty level of the examination
  • Previous years’ cutoffs

NBE releases the first cut-offs with the results of NEET PG. Only those applicants who qualify for the exam will be qualified for the counseling process. However, if the number of candidates qualified for the examination is less than three times the number of seats, NBE will revise the cut-off percentile. NEET PG Cutoff 2021 - Tie-breaker

In case of two or more candidates securing equal marks in NEET PG 2021 merit list, the conducting authority will use the tie-breaking procedure as mentioned below.

  • Applicants with less number of incorrect answers in Part A+B+C will be put in a better position in the NEET PG rank list. 

  • Applicants with higher marks in Part C would be considered to be in a better category. 

  • The lower number of incorrect answers in Part C will be given the higher rating. 

  • Applicants who receive higher marks in Part B of the exam will be considered first. 

  • Medical graduates with a lower number of Part B responses will be granted a higher rank.

  • Higher marks in Part A of a candidate will be eligible to be ranked at a higher position.

  • A lesser number of negative responses in Part A by an aspirant will lead him/her to a better merit position.

  • Lastly, the age of the candidate will be considered and the elder one will be awarded at a higher rank.

NEET PG Counselling 2021

On the basis of merit rank, candidates will be called for NEET PG 2021 counseling for admission to 50% AIQ seats, all seats of Deemed/Central universities, ESICs, and AFMC institutes. In order to appear for NEET PG seat allotment process, aspirants need to register themselves. While registering, they will be required to provide their preferences of colleges as well as courses. Based on these preferences, All India Rank, seats available in a particular college, reservation criteria, and other factors, the admission to Masters of Surgery (MS), Doctor of Medicine (MD), and PG Diploma courses.

NEET 2020 Cut off FAQs

Ans. The topper of NEET PG 2019, Ashraf M Kesarani, had scored 1006 marks. This was the highest score in NEET PG 2019.

Ans. The cutoff for NEET PG 2021 can be revised if the number of candidates eligible for the counseling process is not enough. NBE had revised the cut off for NEET PG 2020, the qualifying percentile was lowered by the 20th percentile.

Ans. If a candidate secures 900+ marks in NEET PG 2021, he/she can expect to get admission to a government college.

Ans. The qualifying marks also called qualifying cut-off for NEET PG 2021 will be released along with the result. The qualifying cut-off for the general category candidates, last year, was 275 marks or above.
