Simon Fraser University Graduate Programs ,Campus and Accomodations

The programs at Simon Fraser University are bifurcated into graduate programs, undergraduate programs, and lifelong learner programs. The university has eight faculties that offer 59 majors and 20 joint-majors in undergraduate studies. It also offers 40 graduate programs, and not to mention, 47 certificate programs, which can be joined with major programs. 

Campus

 The university has three campuses, which are located in Burnaby, Vancouver, and Surrey, respectively.

  • Burnaby Campus: It is the main campus of Simon Fraser University. This campus has the biggest library of all the three campuses. 
  • Surrey Campus: Situated between the metro Vancouver and the Fraser river, this campus mostly has first-year students, who get one-on-one support from their professors.
  • The Vancouver Campus: Also described as the ‘intellectual heart of the city’, this campus is home to six buildings, which have all the amenities and facilities for students.

Accommodations

The university provides its students with housing facilities. It has many halls and houses at its Burnaby and Vancouver campuses. The Burnaby campus has Towers, McTaggert, Shell, Townhouses, and Hamilton Hall. There is Charles Chang Innovation Centre at Vancouver.

Simon Fraser University, Work-Study Program

In order to enable students to study in Canada with convenience, SFU lets them to work while they study. Students at SFU can participate in thework-study program, provided they meet certain norms.

Criteria to work on-campus

  • Students must be enrolled in at least 9 standard graded courses
  • Students must have a demonstrated financial need
  • A valid study permit should be presented
  • Students must have a SIN (Social Insurance Number)

Criteria to work off-campus

  • The student must have a valid study permit.
  • They must have a co-op work permit (if required).
  • They must be studying full-time, in a program, at a recognized institution.
  • They should have already started studying.
