SALESIAN COLLEGE Salesian college could be a Government recognized minority establishment of the church, travel by Salesians of Don Bosco, urban centre Province wherever over 1400 students do their regular B.A., B.Com & B.Sc studies underneath the North Bengal University. Salesian college, established in Shillong, in 1933, was shifted to Sonada, in 1938. It comes underneath section 2(f) and twelve (B) of UGC Act, 1956. In 1935, SCS received affiliation to the Calcutta University for I.A., and in1948 for B.A. Course in English, History and Latin followed by social science in 1950. In 1962 its affiliation was transferred from Calcutta University jointly of the start colleges of NBU. It was in 1970 and 1979 that SCS received affiliation for B.A. Honours Course in English and History severally. anon SCS introduced Education and Philosophy as B.A. subjects. In 2006 it received affiliation for Education Honours course. The College opened a laptop Skills Department in 2002, giving the radiotelegraphic signal and passage courses of C-DAC, Pune, the pc Application Certificate Course of NBU in 2004. In 2005, Career minded programmes of Communicative English and business & Travel Management are initiated followed by Certificate course in Music from Gregorian calendar month 2007. SCS is additionally recognized as associate degree IGNOU study centre from could 2005 giving courses in B.A., B.Com., CIC and CLP. Salesian college, Siliguri field was inaugurated on ninth Gregorian calendar month 2009. Siliguri field offers B.Com Honours courses in business and Management, B.Com General, B.Sc engineering Honours with Statistics as electives. The COP courses in Travel Management, laptop Application, Communicative English and Music are offered as choices. SCS was authorized by NAAC on sixteen Gregorian calendar month 2004 and was given the Grade C++ (Institutional Score between 65-70%). On twenty-six Feb 2010 Salesian college has been bestowed the standing of a university with Potential for Excellence (CPE) by UGC, New Delhi and into its second Cycle from first Gregorian calendar month 2014. In March 2012, the college was re-accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade (CGPA of three.16 out of 4) to be the primary college to receive such grade underneath the University of North Bengal.
