Supreme Court on Sept 29, 2021 had passed an order regarding the participation of OCI candidates in the counselling process. From 2021 onwards, OCI candidates can apply under the Open Category seats at par with Indian citizens. Earlier OCI candidates apply for the counselling process under NRI seat/ quota category and the pool of those seats is very low, therefore, petitions have asked the court to allow them under Open Category.
There will be around 300 medical colleges under AIQ counselling. In 2021, the number of medical colleges participating in AIQ counselling were increased. The number of seats is expected to increase again for NEET UG 2022 Counselling. The increase in the number of colleges and seats will prove beneficial for candidates. MCC will release the seat matrix for NEET UG Counselling before each round.

MCI conducts the counselling to fill 15% All India Quota Seats in two rounds followed by a mop-up round. Stray vacancy round may also be conducted if any seats remain vacant. The steps involved in NEET Counselling Registration are as follows:
Enter Roll Number, Application Number, Candidate name, Mother Name, Date of Birth, Mobile Number, Email ID and Security Pin as per your admit card. After entering all the required information, a new Roll No. and Password will be generated. Use these credentials to register for NEET Counselling.
Step II: Log on to the MCC website and click on ‘Candidate login’.
Step III: Enter your Roll Number and Password.
Step IV: You will be redirected to a new page where you will have to enter details like Name, Roll No., Registration No., Mother’s Name, Contact No., etc. When you’re done, click on ‘Submit’.
Step V: After this, you will be shown all your details as per the NTA database. Verify the information and click on ‘Confirm Registration’. A Registration Slip will be generated. Candidates are advised to save this page.
After successful registration, candidates are asked to submit refundable and non-refundable NEET 2022 counselling fees. The fee can be paid through an online medium like Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Net Banking. Candidates can check NEET counselling fee 2022 in the table given below-

Choice Locking facility is available for a specific time period on a given day.
MCC releases seat allotment result after each round of counselling. It is released in the form of a list followed by the issue of seat allotment letter to the selected candidates. Candidates must report to the allotted colleges with the allotment letter and other documents to finish the admission process. Candidates can check NEET 2022 Seat Intake to know the number of seats offered by different colleges.
Ans: NEET Counselling 2022 will begin with the release of the official notification by MCC. Last year, there was a delay in conducting NEET UG counselling due to the Supreme Court case on the provision of 27% reservation to OBC and 10% to EWS candidates in the AIQ seats.
Ans: The non refundable NEET Counseling fee that needs to be paid for AIQ counselling by the open category candidates will be INR 1,000 and for the reserved category it is INR 500.
Ans: NEET Counselling 2022 is expected to be conducted by MCC in 4 rounds including mop-up and stray vacancy rounds.
Ans: Candidates who clear NEET cut off 2022 will be eligible for AIQ and State level counselling. 15% AIQ counselling will be conducted by MCC and 85% state counselling will be conducted by respective state authorities on their official websites.
Ans: NEET seat allotment letter is required to complete the admission process. After the completion of the seat allotment process if a candidate is satisfied with his/ her seat then they can download the letter and report at the allotted college for document verification.
Ans: The Mop Up round in NEET counselling is the 3rd round and is only conducted for candidates which did not get seats in round 1 and round 2 of counselling.

Candidates can approach the Disability Centres designated by MCC of DGHS across India to obtain a Disability Certificate after getting their disability assessed at the centre in order to avail the benefit of 5% PwD reservation in medical courses.
