Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research (BIHER) was established in 2002 by Shri Lakshmi Ammal Education Trust. The university was established in 1985 as Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute by Sri Ramachandra Educational and Health Trust. In 1994, the Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research was declared as a deemed university by the Government of India. SRIHER is a self-financed private institute. Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research has been ranked 79th in NIRF 2021 rankings in the overall category. In the dental category, as per the NIRF ranking for the year 2021, the university has been ranked 8th whereas the NIRF ranking for the year 2020 in the dental category was 7. The institute has secured 14th rank in the medical category in NIRF 2021 ranking. As per the NIRF ranking for the year 2021, the institute has been ranked 47 in the university category with an overall score of 47.17. Candidates have to follow the university admission process for admission to Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research courses.
