For admission to B. Tech in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, the candidate is needed to have passed the higher secondary school certificate (10+2) examination with Mathematics and Physics as mandatory subjects and Chemistry or any other technical subject. The minimum percentage required is 50% aggregate in the 3 major subjects, however, it could be higher for some universities. Selection of eligible candidates (10+2 qualified with relevant subjects) is based either on the AIR in JEE Mains or marks obtained in the national/State level or university level entrance examinations.

 

Generally, admission to B. Tech in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering is based on performance in the entrance examinations- State level or national levels engineering entrance examinations such as AIEEE or JEE or university level entrance exams such as VITEEE or SRMJEEE. Some institutes also provide direct admission via Board Merit list considering the score obtained in Class XII or qualifying exam. Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main – JEE Main is a 2-tier examination- Main & Advanced. Students can get admission at most of the engineering institutes through JEE Main exam while IITs only consider the ranking obtained in the JEE Advanced exam. The online application process begins around December 1st week and the last date of online submission of applications is in January 2nd or 3rd week.

 

UPESEAT Entrance Exam – University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun, conducts its own aptitude- based entrance examination for admission to B. Tech programs. The last date for the submission of online applications is in the 1st week of May and the exam is also conducted in May. For Board Merit-based selection, minimum 80% marks in aggregate are compulsory at Higher & Senior Secondary level (10th & 12th) and minimum 80% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics at Senior Secondary level (12th class).

 

SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Exam (SRMJEEE) – SRMJEEE is a national- level online examination conducted each year in the month of April by SRM University, Chennai, for candidates willing to enroll themselves to undergraduate courses. Applications forms are available in November and the last date to submit the online application is in the last week of March. The university offers direct admission to top rank holders in central and State board examination and/ or top 1000 IIT JEE rank holders.

 

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) – WBJEE is a State level entrance examination held for the purpose of conducting Joint Entrance Examination for admission to various institutions in West Bengal imparting education in medical, engineering and technological courses. The examination is held in the month of April every year and application forms are made available in January.

 

Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) – Conducted by the Anna University for admission into engineering colleges of Tamil Nadu. Application forms are available in the month of May every year and counselling begins in the 1st week of July. Forms are available online on the official website of Anna University. The TNEA selection process differs for candidates belonging to reserved categories, therefore, aspirants should check the admission/selection process and eligibility criteria before filling out the application forms.

 

COMEDK UGET – COMEDK UGET is a State- level entrance exam conducted by universities in Karnataka and managed by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental of Karnataka (COMEDK). COMEDK is for getting admission into UG courses in the field of medical, dental and engineering. Application forms are available in February and the last date to apply is in April. Generally, COMEDK UGET  Engineering Exam is conducted in the month of May.
