Established in 1887, Wrexham Glyndwr University was earlier referred to as Glyndwr University. it had been renamed to its current name in 2016. it had been given university status in 2008. The university became a neighborhood of the University of Wales in 2004. Over the years, the amount of scholars increased at a rapid pace. thanks to the increasing number of enrolments, the management committee of the university decided to expand its campus area and develop more faculty buildings. The university is managed by its Board of Governors.
The university campus comprises three main halls, namely Wrexham Village hall, Snowdon Hall, and Student Village hall. The campus provides all the required facilities required by the scholars at the campus. They experience a relaxed learning environment. Annual functions, sports activities, fests, competitions, inter-college seminars, and quizzes conducted by the university are held within the campus. The campus also features a student’s cafe & bar.
The student accommodation facilities include a dartboard, billiard table , television, and outdoor area with barbeque services. The library of the university features a huge collection of journals, textbooks, books, magazines, and research papers. Students also can access the electronic resources available at the library. The campus has digital classrooms, and therefore the laboratories are well-equipped. The campus is nearby many cafes and restaurants. a couple of general stores and medical shops are set on the brink of the campus.
As per a report in 2017, the total strength of the university is about 6,415 students. The university offers undergraduate programs, postgraduate programs, and doctoral level programs. The students learn under skilled faculty members. The academic curriculum of the university has various courses that are categorised into several departments. The list of courses includes subjects like, Engineering, Humanities, Criminology & Criminal Justice, Sports Sciences, Health & Social Care, Art & Design, Computing, Communication Technology, Nursing, Social Work, Science, Music Technology and Business.
This extensive range of subjects gives students an opportunity to choose the area of their interest. Many industry professionals visit the University Guest Lectures, practical workshops, and interactive sessions. The students also get a chance to visit notable organisations and gain industry exposure, work as interns, and learn about the fieldwork. The university has a list of notable alumni that includes Andrew Gwynne (Famous politician), Stuart Webber (Sporting Director), Andy Sturgeon (Author, Journalist, broadcaster & garden designer), Jack Sargeant (Politician), and Max Sarin (Artist).
