Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore offers admissions into postgraduate degree programs of management, enterprise management, business analytics, public policy management. It also offers executive and Doctoral programs in various streams of management. 

  • Admission for PGP (MBA) is done through CAT, GMAT, GRE
  • Admissions for Executive PGP are done through GMAT/GRE. 
  • Admissions for Fellowship (Doctoral) program are done through CAT, GMAT, GRE, GATE for most of the courses; and JRF (NET), IIM-B test for few selected course. 
  • Candidates from other countries must possess a valid GMAT and TOEFL/ IELTS score.
  • Shortlisting of candidates will be based on the section-wise scores as well as total cut off marks in the admission tests. The screened candidate list will be called for Writing Ability Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
  • The candidate’s final selection is subject to past academic records and work experience. 
  • The deadline for the online application for all courses will be January. 
  • The online application fee for all courses is INR 1500. It can be done from the official website of IIM Bangalore.

Postgraduate program in Management(PGP), a two year regular course, provides a strong fundamental framework with an orientation towards contemporary and emerging management issues.

IIM Bangalore PGP & PGP (BA) – Selection Criteria

Admission to IIM-B is based on CAT score, academic profile, work experience, communication skills among other parameters. The selection process is divided into 5 stages including:

Stage I Online Registration for PGP Admission, IIM Bangalore

Stage II Written Analysis Test (WAT) & Personal Interview (PI)

Stage III The Final Selection List based on CAT score, WAT & PI score & Diversity 

Stage IV Offer for Provisional Admission for the PGP program 

Stage V Reporting for joining the PGP program 

The candidate must appear and score the minimum required percentile in CAT to be considered for the Shortlisting process for admission at IIM Bangalore.

  • The shortlisting for final selection round in IIM Bangalore Admission Criteria awards maximum weight to the CAT score.
  • The candidate must have scored minimum sectional percentile of 80 in each of the three sections of CAT
    • Quantitative Aptitude (QA) 
    • Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR) 
    • Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VRC)
  • Candidates belonging to the General Category must have scored a minimum overall percentile of 95 in CAT. 
  • If the candidate does not score the minimum prescribed percentile in CAT, he/she will not be considered for shortlisting for the final selection stage.
  • Candidates who qualify the CAT exam with a valid score are eligible to participate in Personal Appearance (PA) round for admission to IIM Bangalore.
  • Final Selection Round for IIM Bangalore Admission comprises of a Personal Interview followed by a Writing Ability Test.
  • The weighted aggregate of the following components will be used to prepare a merit/rank list-
    • CAT
    • WAT
    • PI
    • Diversity
  • Minimum cut off may be applied to WAT & PI components. 
  • Candidates who do not obtain certain minimum scores in the WAT & PI will not be considered for the merit list. 
  • IIM Bangalore will decide the minimum scores at its discretion.

After the WAT & PI round, admission offers are made by IIM Bangalore to successful candidates. 

  • Category wise merit list will be generated based on weights awarded to various components. 
  • The offer of admission to the candidate will be made strictly on the basis of merit/ rank list and availability of seats in each category (Gen, SC, ST, NC-OBC, EWS & DAP).

Offer Acceptance:

  • All the shortlisted candidates will be informed to log in on Institute’s website by using their login credentials (User name & Password) and download offer letters for provisional admission.
  • The qualified candidates must accept the offer within the stipulated date and must deposit the Offer Acceptance Amount (as mentioned in the Offer Letter) through the online payment link.
  • A candidate may withdraw the OA within the withdrawal date specified in the Offer Letter (OL).
  • A candidate desirous of being waitlisted for the final selection is required to pay a waitlist Willingness Amount of INR. 20000.

  • Applicants will be shortlisted for the personal interview based on their
    • CAT / GMAT / GRE / IIMB Test score, as chosen by the candidate
    • Academic performance, and 
    • Duration of work experience
  • The selection process for the Executive program will be conducted in two rounds. Candidates can submit their application during either of the two rounds.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview. The interview panel will consist of two faculty members of IIMB and an IIM-B alumnus. 
  • The interview panel will evaluate each candidate’s performance in terms of quality of work experience, diversity, leadership qualities, social sensitivity, and multifacetedness. 
  • Candidates who are unable to attend the interview on the specified date, because of their overseas travel/stay, may be interviewed through video conference
  • Requests for interview via video conference should be made at least 10 days prior to the scheduled interview date. Candidates may note that interview by videoconference will be held during the specified interview period. 
  • Arrangements for video conferencing at the candidate’s location will have to be made by the candidate. 
  • A multi-factor model is used for selection of candidates. 
  • These factors include academic score, GMAT/GRE scores, quality of work experience, performance in the interview and writing ability test. 
  • A composite total score will be calculated for each applicant using the multi-factor model and a merit list will be prepared
  • The offer of admission will be made to applicants in the merit list depending upon the availability of seats.

  • Fill the online application form at the official website
  • Candidates have to create a login ID and password for the online application form at the website mentioned above. 
  • Enter your personal, educational, work experience, GATE/CAT/GMAT/GRE/NET score. 
  • Upload the relevant documents necessary during filling out the application form. 
  • References will have to be submitted online by the referees directly. Please inform the referees accordingly when you approach them for providing references. 
  • Applicants uploading their CAT score should enter their CAT registration number as well. 
  • Applicants filling their GRE/GMAT/JRF/GATE score must upload their respective score cards as well. 
  • Pay the application fee online at the ‘Make Payment’ tab
  • Applicants for PhD, PGPEM, PGPPM opting for IIMB test have to pay an application fee of INR 1000. 
  • Application fee for PGPEM, PGPPM is INR 1500 and for EPGP is INR 3000 (first phase of selection) and INR 5000 (second phase of selection). 
  • Application fee for multiple PhD program is INR 1000 for one program and INR 1500 for two. 
  • PhD applicants can apply maximum for two areas of specialisation. 
  • For, Executive MBA, Candidates are expected to apply to only one of the two rounds. Candidates found applying in both rounds will be disqualified.

  • However, banks at times would require the student to provide a collateral security for granting the education loan.
