Andhra Loyola College is managed and administered by the members of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), a Catholic religious order, which has rendered signal service in the fields of education and service to humanity for over 450 years. The college was founded in December 1953 at the request of the Catholic bishops of Andhra Pradesh and began its academic sessions in July 1954. The college offers Intermediate (+2), Degree, and Postgraduate courses as well as conducts research programmes in collaboration with several reputable universities.
In 1988, the college was accorded the status of Autonomy for the Degree-level programmes by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in recognition of its excellent contribution to the cause of higher education. The degrees for both UG and PG programmes are awarded by Krishna University to which the college is affiliated.
In 2004, the college won the prestigious ‘College with Potential for Excellence’ (CPE) status from the UGC.
In September 2008, the college was re-accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore, with Grade A (CGPA 3.65 out of 4.00).
During 2016, the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, New Delhi, has selected our College under Star College Scheme to extend financial support to six of our Science Departments viz. Botany, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Zoology, Chemistry and Physics. Ours is the first and only College in both the Telugu states so far to have been selected under this Scheme

The admission to MBA and MCA courses is granted on the basis of rank obtained in the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Andhra Pradesh Government. The question paper of AP ICET will be the objective type. It is the paper and pencil based examination having test duration of 2 and a half hours. The question paper consisting of three sections viz Analytical Ability, Mathematical Ability and Communication Ability.
Section A) of Analytical Ability will consist 20 questions from Data Sufficiency and 55 questions from Problem Solving. Section B) of Mathematical Ability will contain 35 questions from Arithmetical Ability, 30 questions from algebraical and Geometrical Ability and 10 questions from Statistical Ability. Section C) will be the communication ability consist of Vocabulary (10 questions), Business (10 questions) and Computer Terminology, Functional Grammar (15 questions), Reading Comprehension (15 questions).
The admission to M.Sc. courses will be granted on the basis of Krishna University Common Entrance Test (KRU – CET). There will be one question paper for 1 1/2 hours (90 Minutes) duration. The question paper will be in Telugu & English except languages. The question paper will carry a total 100 marks. The question paper will contain a total of 100 questions with Objective type and Multiple Choice. Each question carries out of one mark. MCQs with four alternatives A, B, C, D. Candidate can mark one option out of the given options, the candidate gives more than one answers will be ignored while awarding marks.

Though Andhra Loyola College is an affiliated College, their well-qualified and highly research- oriented faculty keep registering tremendous growth on research front with the research output being in tune with the demands of higher education. The college has 51 Ph.D. holders among its faculty including 16 approved Research Guides, which is very rare for an affiliated College, in different disciplines.

Selection Process
The overall criterion for admission is merit. However, special consideration will be given to Catholics and candidates from socially and economically backwards sections of the society.
After receiving the filled in application of the candidate, if the admission team is satisfied with the marks within one or two days the candidate will get a phone call to attend an interview for the group he/she applied for. Candidates will have to prepare and come for the interview in concerning subjects of the group they prefer from SSC syllabus only.
If the candidate is selected then his/her admission will be confirmed provided they pay the full admission fee immediately.

The library subscribes to 200 periodicals and Journals and maintains a book bank for poor students. Among the activities of the library should be mentioned the competitions it organizes for the students, apart from the ones organized by the Literary and Cultural Association.P.G. Library. This library has a collection of 9,134 books on subjects related to the PG Courses. It subscribes to 200 journals. It has a spacious reading room with a seating capacity of 100. Every year, new books and journals are added to the library in a substantial way. The “Loyola Reviewers Association”, launched last academic year with the objective of inculcating in the students the habit of reading, has conducted seven Book Reviews by the students so far this academic year.
