Established in 2009, Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (also known as ILBS Delhi) is a mono-superspecialty deemed university-cum-hospital for Liver and Biliary diseases located in New Delhi, India. It has been established by the Government of the Nation Capital Territory (NCT) of New Delhi as an autonomous University, under the Societies Registration Act 1860. ILBS, New Delhi is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with ‘A’ Grade. It is ranked 11 under ‘Medical’ category by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF Rankings 2020).

The deemed University offers MSc (Nursing) at PG level and Post Doctoral Certificate Course (PDCC), Post Graduation Certificate Course (PGCC), Doctorate of Medicine (DM), Master of Chirurgiae (MCh) and Diplomate of National Board (DNB) at post-doctoral level. Apart from these, the deemed-to-be University also awards doctorate-level research education to its students as well.

ILBS Delhi is a teaching hospital created by the Government of Delhi to make it a dedicated international center of excellence for the diagnosis and management of Liver and Biliary diseases and to provide advanced research and training in the field of Hepato-biliary Sciences. The inauguration of the associated hospital was done by the former chief minister of Delhi, Shiela Dixit. ILBS also offers Nephrology, Oncology and Cardiology as important sister branches along with other liver-related specialties such as Pediatric Hepatology, Renal Transplant, Urology and Radiology and Pulmonary Medicine. During the Coronavirus pandemic, ILBS New Delhi became a pioneer in starting Convalescent Plasma Therapy for treating serious patients in the city under the supervision of Dr Sarin.

Spread across an area of seven acre, it provides state-of-the-art infrastructure with in-campus residence facility for all its students. It is also mandatory for the students to stay within the campus. It also provides comprehensive resources in the library to support the academics, research and learning need of the institute. The library of ILBS, New Delhi is a member of ERMED Consortium and is an information source for nationwide hospitals and Medical schools in the field of Medicine, coordinated with National Medical Library, DGHS, Government of India.

ILBS Delhi Application Process

ILBS application process is conducted online. Here is the step-by-step process of application:

Candidates must download the application form and prospectus from ILBS website www.ilbs.in.
Candidates must ensure their eligibility from the prospectus before applying online
Candidates should submit their application online at the ILBS’s official website (http://www.ilbs.in)
Applications for in-service candidates for sponsored seat must be routed through proper channel
Application fee is Rs 5000 for PDCC courses, Rs 2500 for PGCC courses and Rs 1000 for PhD and Certificate courses
Fee must be paid by net-banking/debit/credit cards
Application fee once paid will not be refunded even in case of his/her application is rejected

Tie breaking procedure for Admission in ILBS:

In case two candidates get equal marks in the ILBS entrance test, the tie breaking process will be-

Candidate completing MD/ MS/ DNB/ MBBS in minimum attempts will be given preference
Higher marks in MD/ MS/ DNB examinations
Higher marks in Final MBBS examinations
Higher marks in Medicine in MBBS examination in respective specialties
Note: Elder candidates will be given preference in case of a tie

Admission of Sponsored candidates-

Candidates who are sponsored by their employer and meet the eligibility criteria for the respective course must appear in the national entrance examination
Candidates must be in regular service of the sponsoring organisation at the time of admission
Sponsoring organisation must specifically undertake to offer full salary to the candidate while the candidate is pursuing full-time program in the college
Sponsored candidates also need to submit a certificate from the organisation sponsoring them at the time of applying for admission

ILBS library provides comprehensive resources and services to support the academic, research and learning need of the institute. It has a collection of more than 1000 resources which includes books, bound volumes of journals, theses and audiovisuals (CD/DVDs). It also subscribes to current full-text journals (online and/or print) to keep abreast users with the latest trends in the field of various disciplines and specialties. The library is also a member of ERMED Consortium, nationwide electronic information resources in the field of medicine, coordinated through National Medical Library, DGHS, Govt. of India. It also has the facility of statistical analysis tool/software for users. The library is managed by a team of duly qualified library professionals and is headed by faculty in-charge. Feedback from users is always appreciated.
