Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, a project undertaken by the SGPC is a missionary, charitable and humanitarian institution, seeks to impart inclusive education to learners from all creeds, castes and religions. Sardar Parkash Singh Badal, the former Chief Minister had announced during fourth centenary celebrations of the installation of Sri Adi Granth at Golden Temple that a university dedicated to the ideals enshrined in Sri Guru Granth Sahib would be established. His dream reached fruition when the Punjab Legislative Assembly passed Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Act (Punjab State Act 20/2008) and the SGGSWU commenced its first academic session in July 2011. The University has also secured the membership of AIU (Association of Indian Universities)- Membership No. 614.

There has been no looking back since then. With all kinds of support from the State and the SGPC, the University has made rapid strides, in a short span of time, to emerge as a premier institution of higher learning in North India. Several innovative academic programmes in the fields of emerging technologies, sciences and humanities are being run by the University for the benefit of the students. Major thrust areas of the University are promotion of value based quality education and research. It is a matter of great pride for us that research projects worth more than Rs. 3 crores have been awarded to the University faculty by the national agencies such as the DST, CSIR and DAE etc. A large number of faculty members are actively involved in carrying out research and publish their papers regularly in journals of international and national repute.

Workshops and competitions for the holistic growth of personality of the learners and for providing hands-on training in the use of scientific equipment are structured into the very curriculum, the University offers.

In order to promote scholastic excellence and interdisciplinary approach, the academic structure of the University has been divided into Faculty System. The University learners are provided with the state-of -the-art technological infrastructure by way of very well equipped labs. In order to promote inclusive education and merit, several scholarships are provided by the University to the needy and meritorious students, students belonging to minority communities, SC, ST, and single girl child students. Apart from this, fee concessions and scholarships are provided to meritorious students.

Modern life is characterized by alienations of myriad hues. The teachings of the Sikh Gurus, enshrined in Sri Guru Granth Sahib can go a long way in healing the rift which scars the psyche of the modern man by uniting him to his own self, the society around him and to the Divine Light whose residence is the human heart. The University has adopted five neighboring villages for their overall development. The University seeks to promote holistic growth of the learners’ personality. Hence, along with the pursuit of excellence in academics, there is great emphasis on sports, extra-curricular and extra-mural activities.

This is owing to the University’s impetus on the overall personality development of its students that the training and placement cell of the University has achieved success in providing attractive job offers with packages of up to Rs. 12 lakh per annum to the students. The University Training and Placement Cell, is whole heartedly committed to get each and every student placed in reputed companies. The University students, specifically from sciences and engineering courses are also making their mark in R&D sector at international platform. In a short span of time, the University has emerged as a podium for bright future of young India.

Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University B.Tech Admission 2022

Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University offers B.Tech in various specializations. Minimum eligibility for B.Tech is 10+2 in Non-Medical stream with minimum 50% marks. The university also offers B.Tech LEET for which candidate must pass three years diploma in engineering or B.Sc. with minimum 50% marks.

Selection to 75% seats in B.Tech is done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination and to remaining 25% seats, admission is done on the basis of JEE Main score. Admission to B.Tech LEET is done on the basis of merit.

Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University UG Admission 2022: B.Com, BBA, BA, BPT, BCA

The university offers various UG programs in B.Com, BBA, BA (Hons), BPES, BPT, BCA, B.Com, B.Sc, B.Sc. (Hons), BA LLB and B.Sc. B.Ed. program.

Minimum eligibility for UG program is to pass 10+2 examination with minimum 50% marks in relevant stream from recognized university. Selection to UG courses is done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination.

Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University M.Tech Admission 2022

The university offers M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. The university also offers Integrated M.Tech in two specializations.

Minimum eligibility for M.Tech is BE/B.Tech degree in relevant specialization and minimum 50% marks. For Integrated M.Tech, candidate must pass in 10+2 with Non-Medical stream or equivalent and minimum 50% marks.

Selection to 75% of the seats in M.Tech is done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination and 25% seats is filled through GATE score. Admission to Integrated M.Tech is done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination.

Sri Guru Granth Sahib Scholarship: The University awards Sri Guru Granth Sahib Scholarships to 10% needy and meritorious students who might not be financially equipped to pursue higher education.
Minority Community Scholarships: It is a scholarship which is a centrally sponsored scheme for meritorious students who belong to minority students (Sikh, Muslim, Christian, Buddhists and Parsis).
Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for Scheduled Caste Students: It is centrally sponsored scheme under which students with Punjab Domicile belonging to Scheduled Castes and Tribes.
Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for other Backward Class Students: It is centrally sponsored scheme under which students with Punjab Domicile belonging to backward/ other backward classes.
UGC Special Scholarship for J&K students: Under supernumerary quota scheme, two students from J&K get admission are eligible to receive INR 2.5 Lac. Scholarship by UGC.

SGGSWU Placements

Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University has a quite impressive placement record. They have a training and placement department which keeps in touch with the reputed firms and companies and brings in job opportunities for students.

It helps the students from their induction and orientation, internships, projects (mid- term) to their placements and even beyond that.

During the Career fair organized by the University in 2019, 15+ companies visited the campus on a single day and recruited more than 125 students.
More than 400 companies have visited the campus for placement drive. Some of these companies are Delmonte, Baani Milk, DHFL, Cadbury, Nestle, Bonn Foods, Weikfield, Vivo Mobiles, Vserv Solutions, Just Dial, HDFC Bank, Yes Bank, Cord Life Sciences, Vodafone and HF Super.
The highest package offered had been 13 LPA.

The department also organizes Guest Lectures, Seminars, Workshops, Live Projects, and Industry Visits to help the students understand the business corporate environment. Every week, Special Personality Development classes are conducted to guide the students with their communication skills, body language, CV writing etc.
