Stella Maris College Chennai was founded in 1947 by the Society of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary. Stella Maris College is a Catholic minority college of higher education for women. On August 15th 1947, Stella Maris College was established in a small one storey building with a bunch of students in Santhome, Mylapore. Later in 1960, the college was relocated to its present campus ‘The Cloisters’ on Cathedral Road, Chennai. Stella Maris College is an autonomous college affiliated with the University of Madras. Stella Maris College is recognised as an ‘A’ Grade college by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Stella Maris College aims to promote education and empower women to face the challenges of life with courage. In 2021, Stella Maris College has been ranked 58th in the college category by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) while, in 2020, the college was ranked at 64th in the same category.

Stella Maris College infrastructure is spread across 19.5 acres of land in the heart of Chennai and has modern classrooms available with audiovisual facilities. Stella Maris College offers courses at UG, PG, MPhil and PhD level. Stella Maris College offers postgraduate diploma courses to the students. Stella Maris College campus has taken environmental measures such as energy conservation, use of solar power energy. Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of merit and will be intimated for an Interview round.

Selection Criteria

Selection of candidates to the postgraduate programs offered by Stella Maris College is done on the basis of marks scored in the entrance examination as well as interview round.

How to Apply for Stella Maris College?

1. Candidates seeking admission can fill the application form online through the official college website
2. Once the application form is duly filled up, candidates need to print it out and send its hard copy along with the required documents to the college office in person or by post.

Key Points regarding Online Submission of Application Form:

- 1. Duly filled-in applications must be submitted along with the scanned copies of the following documents:
- - 1. Applicant’s passport size photograph of maximum 50 KB size and in JPG/JPEG format
    2. The applicant’s and Parent/Guardian’s signature should be in JPG/JPEG format and maximum 20 KB size
    3. Community Certificate (except OC and ‘Others’ categories) in PDF/JPG/JPEG format and maximum 300 KB in size
    4. Baptism Certificate (only for Catholic applicants) in PDF/JPG/JPEG format of maximum 300 KB.
- 1. Upon filling the online application form with all the relevant details, the candidate should click the “Save” option on the Preview page.
  2. Upon clicking the ‘Save’ button, candidate’s Unique Application Number (UAN) will be generated
  3. Once, the UAN is generated, the candidates can upload the documents.
  4. Candidates can edit and update the application only before the payment of application fee through their Login.
  5. Once the fee is submitted, students will be unable to make any changes to the application.
  6. Applicants can submit the application fee only through online payment modes i.e. Internet banking, credit/debit card only
  7. Candidates can check their application status along with the application fee status only after 24 hours of the transaction through the college website
  8. Candidates will be intimated regarding interview round for all programs through e-mail, SMS and the same will also be uploaded on the College website.

Note: For admission to all the postgraduate programs, students will have to take an entrance test before the interview is conducted.

Candidates applying for the B.V.A. program will be required to appear for an aptitude test (drawing/designing) before the interview.
