Jaypee University of Information Technology Solan (JUIT Solan) was established in the year 2002. It is a private co-educational institute. The campus is spread over 25 acres of land. JUIT Solan was conceived by a joint vision of the Government of Himachal Pradesh and the founder chairman of Jaypee Group Shri Jai Prakash Gaur in 2000. The academic activities commenced in the year 2002. JUIT Solan is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Jaypee University of Information Technology Solan is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The university has a total of 104 faculty members and the total student enrolled is 1804.
The university has seven academic departments namely the Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Technology, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Mathematics and Department of Physics and Material Sciences. According to NIRF Ranking 2021, JUIT Solan has been ranked 129 amongst engineering institutions with an overall score of 36.53.

As per the recent NIRF 2021 rankings, KL University Guntur was ranked 50th in the engineering category, 38th in the management category, 69th in the overall category and 35th in the university category. In National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings 2020, the institute holds the 70th position overall, 70th in management, 58th in engineering, and 41st amid universities.
