What is TANCET ?

Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET)is an entrance examination conducted by Anna University, Chennai on the behalf of Government of Tamil Nadu, for admission in various post graduate courses such as M.B.A., M.C.A., M.E., M. Tech., M. Arch., and M. Plan. offered by numerous University Colleges of Engineering, Regional Campuses of Anna University, Government Aided Engineering Colleges and Arts & Science Colleges and Self-Financing Colleges in the state of Tamil Nadu. The candidates aspiring to seek admission in various government & private colleges of Tamil Nadu shall apply for TANCET Examination through the online mode of registration which is availed on the official website of Anna University i.e. annauniv.edu.

TANCET 2019 entrance examination is scheduled to be conducted on June 22-23, 2019 and the result for the same is expected to be released in the first week of July 2019

TANCET 2020 Eligibility

TANCET 2019 examination will be providing admissions to the various postgraduate courses offered by the various colleges and institutes of Tamil Nadu. However, the eligibility criteria for admissions to the various colleges depend on the individual colleges but the eligibility criteria to appear for TANCET 2019 is as follows:

TANCET 2019 Eligibility criteria for MBA candidates:

  • The candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration with at least 50% marks from a recognized university.
  • Pattern- 10+2+3/4 years pattern or 10+3 years diploma + 3 years pattern or B.E./ B.Tech./B.Arch./B.Pharm. or 10+2+AMIE
  • The candidates of the reserved category will be provided a relaxation of 5 percent  

TANCET 2019 Eligibility criteria for MCA candidates:

  • The candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration with mathematics and at least 50% marks from a recognized university.
  • Pattern- 10+2+3/4 years pattern or 10+ 3 years diploma + 3 years pattern or 10+ 2 + AMIE
  • The candidates of the reserved category will be provided a relaxation of 5 percent 

TANCET 2019 Eligibility criteria for M.E./ M. Tech. /M.Arch./ M. Plan.:

  • The candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration with at least 50% marks from a recognized university.
  • Pattern- B.E./ B. Tech./ B. Arch. Or B.Pharm. or Master’s degree from any relevant branch of Science/ art.
  • Relaxation of 5% marks will be provided to all the candidates of reserved category.

TANCET 2020 Application Procedure

Step 1: Application process-

The candidate is required to enter their respective Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Email ID and password. After providing these details candidate must submit and create a user account.

Step 2: Academic and Personal Information-

This step includes academic details of the candidate. The details about previous degrees are to be mentioned here which includes Graduation information, year of passing etc. The candidate is also required to mention the course for which they are applying along with the preferred examination centre.

Step 3: Uploading Images-

The candidate is required to upload the following scanned images:

  • Photograph of the candidate in jpg/ jpeg format with the file size between 20 KB to 25 KB.
  • Signature of the candidate in jpg/ jpeg format with the file size between 20 KB to 25 KB.

Step 4: Payment of Registration Fees-

  • The candidate of general category is required to pay Rs. 500/- for each programme i.e. M.B.A. or M.C.A. or M.E./ M. Tech./ M. Arch., and M. Plan. The candidate who desires to appear for more than one programme is required to pay Rs. 500/- for each additional programme.
  • The candidate of the reserved category is required to pay Rs. 250/- for each programme i.e. M.B.A. or M.C.A. or M.E./ M. Tech./ M. Arch., and M. Plan. The candidate who desires to appear for more than one programme is required to pay Rs. 250/- for each additional programme.

Step 5: Review and Submit-

After entering all the required details and paying application fees, the candidate must review the application form carefully. After reviewing details, the form should be submitted. A complete application form of TANCET 2019 will be generated in PDF format. The candidate is required to download the form and take a print out for future reference.

TANCET Registration Fees varies for the candidates of General category and the reserved category.

Here are the details about TANCET 2019 Application fees:

The candidate of general category is required to pay Rs. 500/- for each programme i.e. M.B.A. or M.C.A. or M.E./ M. Tech./ M. Arch., and M. Plan. The candidate who desires to appear for more than one programme is required to pay Rs. 500/- for each additional programme.

The candidate of the reserved category is required to pay Rs. 250/- for each programme i.e. M.B.A. or M.C.A. or M.E./ M. Tech./ M. Arch., and M. Plan. The candidate who desires to appear for more than one programme is required to pay Rs. 250/- for each additional programme.

Steps to download TANCET 2019 Hall Ticket:

  1. Log on to the official website at www.annauniv.edu Find out Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) Exam Admit Card/Hall Ticket for the exam in June 2019. 
  2. Click on the Admit Card link to proceed to the downloading portal. 
  3. Enter your Application Registration Number and Date of Birth as asked. 
  4. Submit the correct details to see your Admit Card. 
  5. Your TANCET Admit Card/Hall Ticket 2019 will be shown on your screen. 
  6. Save and Download the Admit Card as PDF file. 
  7. Get a printout of Admit Card for more use

TANCET 2020 Preparation Tips

  1. Time Management: Maintaining a proper schedule for every task that you do can lead you to success. Prepare along with all daily tasks such as exercise, play and every other task by managing the time.
  2. Diet & food: Maintain a completely healthy diet including fresh fruits and vegetables. Try to ignore oily stuff and have a proper balanced diet.
  3. Positivity: Always try to be positive towards every work that you do and be focused towards all your activities along with studies. Being optimistic works very well many times in such situations.
  4. Mock Tests: Prepare the best way by appearing as many mock tests you can, and analyze the results regularly. Try solving the portion which you find difficult in the mock tests and create a strong base.
  5. The smart way to Prepare: Make separate sheets for formulas and theorem that can help you a lot while solving numerical in Physics and Mathematics.
  6. Believe in yourself: Self-belief is most important as it generates a lot of positivity and gives boost to your confidence.
  7. Revise: Make sure you revise every topic thoroughly and prepare well every topic by revising time and again. Also prepare separate revision plan for last minute preparation.

TANCET 2020 Exam Pattern

TANCET 2019 question paper will comprise of three-parts i.e. Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III. The first two will be compulsory for all the candidates whereas, in Paper-III, the candidate will need to answer the single section selected by them during registration.

TANCET 2020 Counseling Details

  • The Couselling for TANCET 2019 is expected to commence from the last week of July or the first week of August 2019 
  • Counselling will be held at Anna University, Chennai-25 
  • Candidates should attend the counselling with all the original certificates. 
  • TANCET Counselling Fee:  Rs 5,300 (Rs 1,150/- for SC / SCA / ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu)
  • Payment Mode:  DD or Cash, inclusive of a non-refundable counselling fee of Rs 300 (Rs 150/- for SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu.
  • Note: The Demand Draft should be drawn in favor of “The Secretary, TANCAT, Anna University” payable at Chennai.

Reservation

TANCET 2019 Reservation Criteria:

The Anna University provides Reservation according to the following percentage-

Open Competition – 31%

Backward Class – 26.5%

Backward Class Muslim – 3.5%

Most Backward Class & Denotified Communities – 20%

SC – *15%

SC (Arunthathiyars) -*3%

ST – 1%

  4. Copy of Mark Sheets of all semesters/years of the Qualifying Examination

  6. Copy of Degree Certificate (or) Provisional Degree Certificate in the case of candidates who have passed in 2016 or earlier
  7. Certificate from District Medical Board for Differently Abled candidates
  8. The self-addressed stamped acknowledgment card

Score Evaluation

Evaluation Scheme for M.B.A. –

The Time Duration of TANCET 2019 MBA examination will be 2 hours. The evaluation will be done based on following:

  • The candidate will be evaluated on the basis of identifying the data and applying it to the business decisions.
  • The candidate will be evaluated on the basis of answering the comprehension passages.
  • The evaluation will be done according to the solutions provided for mathematical problems. Mathematics will include plus two level Mathematical problems.
  • The knowledge of English will be evaluated on the basis of figuring out grammatical errors.

Evaluation Scheme for M.C.A. – 

The Time Duration of TANCET 2019 MCA examination will be 2 hours. The questions will be from following sections:

  • Quantitative Ability
  • Analytical Reasoning
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Computer Awareness

Apart from these four sections, questions on Verbal Activity, Basic Science, etc. will also be asked.

Evaluation Scheme for M.E./ M. Tech./ M. Arch./ M. Plan. –

The Time Duration of TANCET 2019 Engineering examination will be 2 hours. The question paper will comprise of three papers. The paper I and Paper II of the question paper will be compulsory for each candidate whereas the third section will include the section selected by the candidate during registration.
