Maeer’s MIT Institute of Design, Pune OverviewMaeers MIT Institute of Design was established in Established In : 2006 and was developed with a vision to become a research and training institute of highest international quality. Mentors from various design-related disciplines are also invited to be a part of the institute and interact with the budding designers/students who are learning and teach them how to explore different areas when it comes to design. MIT Institute of Design, Pune was formed with the aim of creating and developing professional facilities of education that will help in training the aspiring young generation and thus it will provide ambitious, dedicated, and skilled professionals who will serve the society and the nation at large.At the institute, learning is comprehensive and each project has a mentor and one or two students who pursue the same course as the participating mentor. The team is then led by a member of the permanent faculty of the institute. Mentors are selected at Maeer’s MIT Institute of Design in the fields of biomechanics, linguistics (semiotics), alternative energy systems, performing arts, sociology, design anthropology, plastics arts, perception and cognitive psychologies and many more.MITID Pune has an annual design festival and the design curriculum at MITID is quite vibrant and wherein students are encouraged to take part in multiple activities which go beyond the academics. This helps in their overall development. It also has a design store, known as iDid which is a student initiative and was founded in Established In : 2009. It is an arena for learners to showcase their skills/designs to take it ahead.At MITID, live projects are already done across all disciplines. A group of students from a particular class works on the design solution under the guidance of a faculty for the same. Social welfare is also an important aspect of MITIDs culture.
