Coronavirus impact on NET, TET & SET 2020 exam dates

Following the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19), several recruitment exams have cancelled/postponed. As a precautionary measure against the deadly novel Coronavirus, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has also revised dates for all the exams conducted by it such as UGC NET and CSIR NET.

In this article, we will talk about the impact of Coronavirus on the schedule of major National Eligibility Tests (NETs), Teacher Eligibility Tests (TETs) and State Eligibility Tests (SETs).

List of NETs, TETs & SETs impacted by Coronavirus

Check the current status of all NETs, TETs and SETs affected by Coronavirus below:  

CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test)

The CTET application process 2020 commenced on January 24 and ended on March 9. CTET admit card 2020 was expected to be out in the third week of June. Also, the CTET 2020 exam was scheduled to be held on July 5. However, the exam has been postponed due to COVID-19. The new CTET exam date 2020 is yet to be out. 

UGC NET (University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test)

The UGC NET 2020 application form and notification released on March 16. The exam was to be held from June 15-20. However, it was postponed due to the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Currently, NTA has released the revised UGC NET exam date 2020. The exam will now be conducted from September 16-18 and September 21-25. The UGC NET 2020 admit card will be released 15 days before the commencement of the exam. 

CSIR NET (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research University National Eligibility Test)

Similar to UGC NET, CSIR NET 2020 application form and notification were also released on March 16. CSIR NET application process was to end on April 15. However, due to the prevalent situation of COVID-19, NTA extended the last date several times and the application process finally ended on June 30. Thereafter, on August 22, NTA re-opened the application form window again. Interested candidates can fill the CSIR NET online form by September 10.

The CSIR NET 2020 exam was scheduled to be held on June 21 but was postponed. Currently, the revised CSIR NET exam date 2020 is yet to be out.

Kerala SET (Kerala State Eligibility Test)

Kerala SET is another exam that has been postponed due to COVID-19. The exam was earlier scheduled to be held on March 29. However, currently the exam is cancelled. The LBS Centre for Science & Technology will come up with fresh Kerala SET exam date and admit card date in due course.

KSET (Karnataka State Eligibility Test)

The KSET 2020 exam was postponed by University of Mysore in view of the all-country lockdown imposed due to the Coronavirus pandemic situation. The exam was initially scheduled to be held on April 12 and later on June 21. Currently, the revised KSET exam date 2020 is announced and the paper will be held on September 27.

TS SET (Telangana State Eligibility Test)

TS SET 2020 exam dates have not been released yet. However, the application form is typically released in March end every year. In 2019, TS SET notification was released on March 23 while TS SET application form was released on March 27. This year, due to the outbreak of COVID-19, TS SET notification has been delayed. However, there is no official confirmation on the same yet.

OTET (Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test)

OTET exam dates 2020 have not been released yet. Typically OTET application form is released in July. However, currently there is no update on the release of the notification or application form. It seems that OTET 2020 notification has been delayed due to COVID-19. However, there is no official update regarding the same.

UNIPUNE SET (University of Pune State Eligibility Test)

UNIPUNE SET 2020 (also known as MH SET 2020) was scheduled to be held on June 28. UNIPUNE SET admit card 2020 was scheduled to be out on June 18. Conducted by Pune University, the exam has been postponed due to COVID-19 and the revised date is yet to be out. UNIPUNE SET 2020 application process ended on January 29.

HP TET (Himachal Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test)

HP TET application form 2020 submission process ended on July 17. The HP TET exam has been postponed by HPBOSE several times due to COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, HP TET is scheduled to be conducted from August 25-28.   

TN TET (Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test)

TN TET 2020 notification was scheduled to be out on May 4. Also, TNTET 2020 exam was scheduled to be conducted from June 27-28 but was delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, there is no update from Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) on the revised date of the notification.

UPTET (Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test)

UPTET exam dates 2020 have not been announced yet. The UPTET 2020 notification is usually released in the last week of October. Whether the exam will be impacted by COVID-19, is yet to be seen.

KTET (Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test)

The KTET 2020 exam is over now. The exam was conducted from February 15-16. KTET result 2020 was released in May. It is unlikely that the exam will have an impact due to Coronavirus.

APSET (Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test)

APSET 2020 exam dates were released on August 10. APSET application form 2020 was out on August 14. Currently, the AP SET exam is scheduled to be held on December 6. It is unlikely that the exam will have an impact due to Coronavirus.

WBSET (West Bengal State Eligibility Test)

WBSET 2019-20 exam is over. The exam was held on January 19, 2020 and WBSET result 2019-20 was declared on July 10. WB SET 2020 notification is expected to be out in September. 

HTET (Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test)

HTET 2020 exam dates have not been released yet. The exam is unlikely to have an affect due to COVID-19.

Bihar STET (Bihar Secondary Teachers Eligibility Test)

BS TET 2019-20 exam was held on January 28, 2020. However, after the Bihar Board found irregularities in the exam, it decided to re-conduct the exam from September 9-21, 2020 in multiple shifts. The exam is unlikely to have an affect due to COVID-19.
