Campus
MacEwan has two campuses:
The City Centre Campus stretches across six-blocks. Apart from the many classrooms and labs, the campus also houses the Christenson Family Centre for Sport and Wellness, Library, MacEwan International and MacEwan Residence among others.
- Alberta College Campus is home to the School of Continuing Education and the Conservatory of Music alongside more than 50 classrooms, computer and science labs, library, recital facility etc.

Programs
MacEwan University offers 8 four-year bachelor programs, 2 applied degrees, 43 diploma and certificate programs, apart from University Transfer Programs and Distance Programs. The programs are available in full-time, part-time as well as distance/online mode of studies
Application Process
Criteria for Admission
- English Language Proficiency: It is mandatory for international students to submit their IELTS/TOEFL or any such similar English language proficiency test scores. Applicants are advised to check the University website for a detailed list of recognized Tests and respective acceptable scores.
- Applicants must have a minimum aggregate of 65%, with each subject score not less than 50%.
- Applicants yet to complete their qualifying course can apply for early admission provided the details of the course is submitted to the University.
When to Apply?
Admission to all MacEwan University programs opens in the Fall Term. Only a select few programs offer additional intakes in the winter and/or spring terms.

How to Apply?
Prospective students are advised to start the application process early and follow the steps listed below:
- Choose your desired program to clearly understand admission requirements and check deadlines in order to apply early.
- Post submission of application, applicants can track their application status by logging in to myPortal.MacEwan.ca
- Submit transcripts and other documents as required by the document submission deadline.
- Complete additional admission criteria, if any.
- Look out for the admission decision.
- Accept or decline the admission offer.
- Pay the mandatory admission confirmation deposit
- Check MacEwan.ca/Getting Started for further proceedings.
Application Fee: Application fee for admission is CAD 110
Note: Applicants are required to submit all official transcripts/academic documents from any high school or post-secondary institute that they have attended within the document deadline.
Costs and Expenses
An admission confirmation deposit amount has to be paid by the applicant towards the tuition fees, once application is accepted. Non-payment of this confirmation fee within the specified deadline will result in the withdrawal of admission offer.

Please note that International applicants residing outside of Canada at time of application will receive a full refund of the Admission Confirmation Fee if the Study Permit is denied, upon submission of a copy of the Study Permit denial to the Office of the University Registrar.
Term Fees are charged on the basis of the number of credits at the rate of CAD 608 per credit. International Students need to take up at least 9 credits a term in their program.

Accommodation
- On-campus residences are available for 4-month/8-month/12-month terms, the cost of which ranges from CAD 618 – CAD 1,082 per month.
- Utilities like internet connection, water, power, and heat charges are included in the residence fees.
- MacEwan Residence does not have in-house dining facilities; however, students can opt to buy a declining balance dining card and redeem the same at on-campus food service outlets.
How to Apply?
MacEwan Residence space is allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. The process involved in registering for MacEwan Residence through the Student portal of the University is briefly outlined below:
- Submit online application including myMacEwan email address and MacEwan Student ID.
- Accept room offer once it comes in and pays the confirmation deposit of CAD 700 within the specified deadline.
- Select your roommate by creating the desired roommate profile and selecting from available matches on the residence portal.
- Pay residence fees on or before deadline dates.
Residence Application Fee – CAD 50 (non-refundable); the fee must be submitted along with the application for residence.
Confirmation Deposit – CAD 700 (books the residence space and goes towards the residence fees)
Financial Aids and Scholarships
There are several financial resources available to help students finance their education.
- Student loans and grants: Loans and grants are available only to domestic students through their province.
- Scholarships, awards, and bursaries: Scholarships are based on academic performance. Awards are based on criteria such as criteria like volunteerism or leadership, and may also consider academic achievement or financial need. Bursaries are awarded based on financial need.
- In the 2015-16 academic year, the Student Awards Office at the University disbursed awards worth CAD 8.4 million to over 6,000 students, from both internal and external sources.

Work While You Study
Over 90 courses at MacEwan University include an experiential learning component wherein students can engage in Practicums and internships, co-ops and volunteering.
The University also encourages undergraduate research through grant funding, research week, a research journal and student-led conferences and presentations.
- Through the University’s Job Portal, students can seek part-time jobs/summer jobs/volunteering and field placements to gain that additional experience before completing one’s education while earning some extra money.
- The University also assists students to prepare for as well as find a rewarding career. The Job portal MacEwanWorks works towards developing connections with potential employers and placement host organizations to give the students access to professional opportunities
Alumni Network
The University offers several benefits, services and supports to the alumni in order to help them stay involved with their alma mater. Recent grads (within last 2 years) can register with University Job Board MacEwanWorks to search for job postings, upload documents, book an appointment and register for events.
