B.Tech in Polymer Science & Technology is a 4- year long undergraduate course essentially involving designs, analyses, and/ or modification of polymer materials.

Polymer Engineering covers aspects of the petrochemical industry, polymerization, structure and characterization of polymers, properties of polymers, compounding and processing of polymers, among other related concepts. Job prospects for polymer engineers abound in industries such as aerospace and automobile.

In India, Polymer Engineers earn somewhere between INR 1,20,000 and 180,000 per annum on an average. Engineers employed in the private sector are generally paid more than the public sector. With increase in experience and skill sets, Polymer Engineers earn up to INR 9,60,000 per annum. Given the rapid expansion in plastic and fiber industries, career scope for Polymer Engineers is vast in the current context. Research labs like National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, have an entire department in place for the study of polymers.
