B.Tech EEE is a 4-year undergraduate course in electrical engineering with a background in electronics. The minimum eligibility for this course requires passing class 12th/ Higher Secondary Examination in Physics and Maths.

B. Tech EEE: What is it About?

This field of Engineering indulges in the study and application of electricity and electronics. In a world that practically lives on electricity, electrical appliances, and computer software, this branch of engineering has a bright future. 

B.Tech EEE is designed to provide skills and knowledge about the electrical, electronic and computer-based systems so as to make students successful engineers with a shining career. The course consists of core courses, electives, and Lab Practical.

The course delivery methods include lectures, lab work, practical training, assignments, workshops etc. During B.Tech EEE course, students are encouraged to undergo practical training and this usually happens after the end of the fourth semester

 

The students are also required to complete a research project which forms an integral part of their final evaluation leading to the B.Tech degree. In the final assessment, the students are graded on Theory paper, Term work (tests, assignments), Lab work, Training, and Research Project.

The minimum eligibility for this requires, passing the higher secondary school certificate (10+2) examination with science subjects such as Physics and maths as compulsory subjects along with other subjects like Chemistry, Computer Science, Biotechnology, and Biology. Minimum percentage of marks in class 12/ higher secondary Examination is generally from 50% to 55%.

 

Since most institutions have an Entrance Exam; the students who have appeared in Higher Secondary Examination and are awaiting results can apply too.

 

Some colleges like Bharti Vidyapeeth Universityalso offer Direct Entry for this course along with an Entrance Exam. The eligibility for this requires the student to have Diploma in Engineering by an institution recognized by All India Council for Technical Education.

If the candidate is eligible, they can apply for the course either through Direct Entry (as mentioned in Eligibility) or through Entrance Examination. Since the Joint Entrance Examinations for Engineering are conducted at University/ State/ National level, it is important to keep a check on the Entrance Exams for Engineering.

Top entrance examinations for B.Tech EEE is as follows:

 

JEE Main: The Joint Entrance Exam applications are available online in the months of December and January. Candidates can opt for either pen-paper based exam or computer-based exam for Paper 1. This paper is for students applying for B.Tech EEE.

 

BITSAT: Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission test or BITSAT application form are available from the month of January. This exam is an Online based one.

 

JEE Advanced: JEE Advanced examination is taken by JEE Main selected candidates to take admission in IIT. The application forms are available online in the months of April- May.

 

Selection Process

The selection process varies in two ways from college to college: a) by accepting the candidate’s admission solely on the Entrance Examination Score and/or b) declaring a merit list based on candidate’s performance in Entrance Exam as well as their qualifying score.

 

Lateral Entry

Lateral Entry into the second year of the course is also available in colleges like Poornima UniversityLovely Professional University etc. The eligibility for lateral entry is 10th+ 3yr Diploma in Engineering/Technology or BSc in any stream with subjects as Mathematics with a minimum of 45% to 70% marks.
