The campus is spread over an area of 18 acres of land. DAVIET is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The mission and mission of the institute is to provide quality professional education, inter multi disciplinary knowledge domains, research and innovation.  DAVIET is affiliated to IKG Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar.

Desh Bhagat University, Fatehgarh Sahib was established under the Punjab Government's Desh Bhagat University Act. The University's founding spirit is derived from freedom fighter Sr. Lal Singh Ji, who fought for India's independence and was awarded the "Tamra Patra" by the Government of India in 1972 for his efforts in social work and his services in the freedom struggle. Thus, the name Desh Bhagat was considered. The University was founded to achieve excellence in higher education, as envisioned by Sr. Lal Singh Ji.
