SJG Degree College offers 3-year undergraduate programs in Arts, Science, and Commerce. Candidates must clear 10+2 board examinations in the stream applied for (Arts/Commerce/Science) in order to be eligible for appearing in SET, the institute level entrance test. Those applying for B. Sc Pure Science courses must have Maths, Physics, and Chemistry as compulsory subjects at the 10+2 level. Candidates applying for B. Sc Life Science courses must have Biology, Physics, and Chemistry as compulsory subjects.
Candidates who meet the basic eligibility criteria must appear for SET or the Silver Entrance Test to gain admission in the course of their choice. Applications are invited via advertisements in leading English and Telugu dailies of Andhra Pradesh. Candidates are tested on their knowledge of the English language and 3 subjects of Arts/Science/Commerce stream, depending on the subject choice of the applicant. Examinees must answer 160 multiple choice questions in 150 minutes (2 ½ hours) and score at least 64/160 in order to qualify.
Candidates who clear the entrance test by scoring 64 marks or more are called for counseling by the institute. After document verification, courses are allotted based on a student’s academic merit, SET score and seat availability. Students are admitted on a ratio of 42:36:22 from the erstwhile Andhra University area, erstwhile Osmania University area and erstwhile Sri Venkateswara University area.
