KVA DAV College for Women, Karnal is a principal institution of Haryana with the distinction of being the first women’s College in the State. Inspired by Swami Dayanand Saraswati’s vision of the potential in women and the need to prepare and empower them this College was accepted in 1958 (by a group of Arya Samajis led by Lal Makhan Lal ji, Dr Ganesh Das ji and Principal Mela Ram Ji Barq) with only hundred candidates, four lecturers and four members of non-teaching. Now it has strength of about 2985 candidates, 108 lecturers and 53 members of non- teaching staff. After 28 years of its inception, the management of the College was provide over to DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi which is the biggest, non government academic society in India running about 778 institutes across all parts of India and abroad.

Inspired by Swami Dayanand Saraswati’s vision of the potential in women and the need to inculcate and empower them, this college envisions to offer a distinct environment of excellence in stduy with humane values and social commitment to girls and to enable them to reach their full potential as human beings, individually and as members of the society.

To instill, in young candidates rational perspective, integrated personality, positive mind set, innovative thinking, self-esteem and sense of responsibility.

MISSION

‘Education has a 2-fold function to perform in the life of a person: the one is assistance to society and the other is to uphold our valuable culture. We must enable a women to become more well organized and achieve with increasing facility the legitimate aim of her life by adopting these quintessences of life. Sports Ground at Danialpur Village spreading over 3.5 acres of land with proposal to construct a Gymnasium, Swimming Pool, Badminton, Basketball, Volleyball, Kho Kho and Kabaddi Ground to groom budding sports women. Karnal stadium is procured on hire for practice of track events.
Broadband connections facilitating internet facility for every teaching department, library and Hostel.
EDUSAT system, based on latest technology, and 55″ “LCD” is installed to impart Education as per Haryana Govt. instructions.

Scholarship/Freeships

1. 36 Number of students of (Merit holders/Fatherless/BPL card Holders) UG/PG classes are awarded for aid fund of Rs. 1,95,000/- from the college side.
2. 02 Number of UG students are awarded for POSE scholarship of Rs. 80,000/- from DHE, Panchkula.
3. 03 Number of UG students are awarded for renewal of POSE scholarship of Rs. 1,20,000/- from DHE, Panchkula
4. 02 Number of UG students are awarded for Haryana Merit Scholarship of Rs. 6000/- from DHE, Panchkula.
5. 01 Number of PG student is awarded for POSE scholarship of Rs. 3,000/- from DHE, Panchkula.
6. 08 Number of sports students are awards for Rs. 25,000/- with cash prize from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra during Haryana State Inter College volley ball competition held at BAR JANTA College, Kaul on 5th to 8th March , 2020.
7. 05 Numbers of students are recommended from KUK for scholarship of Dr. Radha Krishan Foundation Fund.

2018-19

1. 42 students of UG were awarded scholarship of Rs. 4,20,000/- and 08 students of PG were awarded scholarship of Rs. 2,00,000/- on merit basis from M/s K.C Mahindra Education Trust on April 08, 2019.
2. 39 students (Merit holders/ Fatherless/ BPL card Holders) UG/PG classes are awarded Student Aid Fund Scholarship of Rs. 2,21,000/- from the college.
3. 60 meritorious students of UG/PG classes are awarded scholarship of Rs. 1,15,400/- from D.A.V. College Managing Committee, New Delhi. Rs.34,400/- is being already distributed among students and Rs. 81,000/- is to be released from DAVCMC, New Delhi very soon.
4. 02 UG students are awarded POSE Scholarship of Rs.80,000/- from DHE, Panchkula.
5. 04 students are recommended by KUK for scholarship of Dr. Radha Krishan Foundation Fund.
6. 01 student is recommended by KUK for renewal of scholarship of Dr. Radha Krishan Foundation Fund.
7. 12 students are recommended for scholarship of Sita Ram Jindal Foundation Fund, New Delhi.
8. SC/BC category students are given Scholarship as per Haryana Govt. Rules and regulation

Freeships

Freeships are offered to poor/needy, fatherless students, SC students, BPL card holders, outstanding sports students and wards of faculty members. 100% Fee Waiver for international and national winner students.

1. 18 sports students have been given 100% fee concession, (Rs.1,73,005 /-)
2. 01 sports students have been given 100% freeship in hostel (Rs.15,140/-)

‘Earn while you Learn’ Scheme

The college promotes ‘earn while you learn’. The students of the Department of Home Science are earning approximately Rs. 20,000/- to 25,000/- per year through Diwali Sale, boutique work, cosmetology services, knitting work, etc. under the scheme ‘Earn while you Learn’.
