KVA DAV College for Women, Karnal is a principal institution of Haryana with the distinction of being the first women’s College in the State. Inspired by Swami Dayanand Saraswati’s vision of the potential in women and the need to prepare and empower them this College was accepted in 1958 (by a group of Arya Samajis led by Lal Makhan Lal ji, Dr Ganesh Das ji and Principal Mela Ram Ji Barq) with only hundred candidates, four lecturers and four members of non-teaching. Now it has strength of about 2985 candidates, 108 lecturers and 53 members of non- teaching staff. After 28 years of its inception, the management of the College was provide over to DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi which is the biggest, non government academic society in India running about 778 institutes across all parts of India and abroad.

Inspired by Swami Dayanand Saraswati’s vision of the potential in women and the need to inculcate and empower them, this college envisions to offer a distinct environment of excellence in stduy with humane values and social commitment to girls and to enable them to reach their full potential as human beings, individually and as members of the society.
To instill, in young candidates rational perspective, integrated personality, positive mind set, innovative thinking, self-esteem and sense of responsibility.
MISSION
‘Education has a 2-fold function to perform in the life of a person: the one is assistance to society and the other is to uphold our valuable culture. We must enable a women to become more well organized and achieve with increasing facility the legitimate aim of her life by adopting these quintessences of life. Education must also train and lead the young women towards swift, steadfast and effective thinking, views and judgments’.

Freeships are offered to poor/needy, fatherless students, SC students, BPL card holders, outstanding sports students and wards of faculty members. 100% Fee Waiver for international and national winner students.
‘Earn while you Learn’ Scheme
The college promotes ‘earn while you learn’. The students of the Department of Home Science are earning approximately Rs. 20,000/- to 25,000/- per year through Diwali Sale, boutique work, cosmetology services, knitting work, etc. under the scheme ‘Earn while you Learn’.
