SCHOLARSHIP – ME/MTech STUDENTS

The candidates admitted in M.E./M.Tech. will be eligible for the scholarship as per the following:

Scholarship from AICTE: – Candidates with valid GATE score, will be considered to receive scholarships only if approved and the amount released by AICTE or any other funding agency (applicable only for intake approved by AICTE).

Scholarship from TIET: – Candidates with valid GATE score who are getting the scholarship from AICTE or from any other funding agency as mentioned at ‘I’ above, shall also be eligible for an additional scholarship of Rs. 5000/- per month from TIET.

Candidates with valid GATE score who are not getting the scholarship from AICTE or from any other funding agency as mentioned at ‘I’ above, shall be offered a scholarship of Rs. 12,400/- per month.

ME/MTech Candidates who are not GATE qualified shall be offered Rs. 10,000/- per month for 10 months in an academic year. A minimum 70% (65% for SC/ST) of marks in qualifying degree will be required to avail these scholarships. For continuation of Scholarship in the second year, a minimum of 8.00 CGPA at the end of the first year will be required with no backlog.

SCHOLARSHIP – MSc STUDENTS

Three merit scholarships, one each of value of full, half and quarter tuition fee respectively, as prescribed from time to time for the general category of M.Sc. students, be awarded to the students in M.Sc. programme wise and year wise. The scholarship will be awarded in the first year (in the second semester) on the basis of performance (CGPA obtained) in the 1st semester. The scholarship will be awarded in the 2nd year on the basis of merit i.e. AGPA of 1st year. The eligible students should not have AGPA less than 8.00 and have no backlog at the time of award of scholarship.

Merit scholarships will be awarded only if the number of students registered in a discipline is at least five.

Thapar University Placements

Thapar University has established a placement cell to conduct on-campus placement drives for graduating students of all branches prior to the completion of their graduation. The placement assistance cell of TIET is well strengthened, and responsible for inviting MNCs, software firms and other private companies for the campus placement drive. The CILP of the institute also arranges a six week’s summer training for the B.E. second year students and works in collaboration with various industries. Thapar University Placement 2020 Trends

The placements for the academic session 2019-20 have shown a decline in numbers owing to the on-going pandemic situations. About 264 prominent companies visited the campus for recruitment till Feb 29,2020. Total number of 971 students got placed in the last placement session. 996 placement offers were made out of which, 946 were single offers and 25 were multiple offers

From the above data, we can see there is an increase in the number of visiting companies as well as the no. of placements over the years. But in the last placement session of 2020, the college witnessed a decrease in placements due to the pandemic.
