Aiming to bring about change and progress through education, the Tmt.Kannammal Educational Trust was constituted in 1985 and started Thai Moogambigai Polytechnic College. Within three years of its inception, Dr. M.G.R. Engineering College was founded in 1988, and the Thai Moogambigai Dental College was started in the year 1991. Both the colleges acquired Deemed University status in 2003 as Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute as per the orders of the University Grants Commission, New Delhi and the Union Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India, New Delhi.

Vision

The 21st century poses a lot of challenges that could be overcome with the help of education and technology. Keeping this in mind Dr. M.G.R Educational and Research Institute University was started with a vision of providing a better foothold for the students of today to face the challenges. To succeed in the world today you need more than just academics. The modern adult is expected to have a combination of technical know-how and ambitious confidence. Being aware of the demand that is placed on the youth today, Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute University has preserved to nurture and groom young men and women through Engineering, Medical, Dental and Humanities and Sciences.

MGRERU UG Admission 2022

The Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute University offers a number of undergraduate degree courses, like B.Tech (regular, lateral entry and Part-time), BDS, B.Sc., BPT, B.Sc., B.Com, BBA, BCA, B.Ed and M.B.B.S. degrees with various specializations. The B.Tech course is offered as regular, lateral entry and part-time.

The B.Tech regular course is offered with 15 different specializations and the duration for these courses is four years. B.Tech part-time and B.tech course through lateral entry is offered with six different specialization subjects. The B.Sc. degree is offered with 11 different specialization subjects.

Admission to all the UG courses at MGRERU are done through the entrance test conducted by the University itself for preparation of the merit list for different courses.

Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute University also offers a number of postgraduate courses for the graduates seeking further study in the concerned disciplines under various specializations.

The University offers the M.Tech courses (both as regular and part-time courses) under 30 different specializations. The regular M.Tech courses are for a duration of two years and the part-time M.Tech courses are for a duration of three years.

Apart from the M.Tech courses, the University also offers M.Arch., MBA, MBA (Part-Time), MCA, MCA (Part-Time), MDS, MPT, M.Sc., MS (By Research) degrees under a number of specializations.

The eligible candidates need to sit for an entrance test conducted by the University in order to get selected for the desired course. The preparation of the merit list for different courses is done based on the performance of the candidates in the qualifying examination and the results obtained by the candidates at the graduation level examination.

The University also offers the M.Phil. and Ph.D. degree under various different fields of research. The M.Phil. degree is offered under four specialization subjects and the Ph.D. degree is offered with 21 different specialization subjects for the purpose of research.

For admission to the M.Phil. and Ph.D. courses, the candidates need to appear for an entrance test. The marks obtained by the candidates in the entrance test as well as in their postgraduate examinations are considered for preparation of the merit list for admission.

Placement cell of the institute was set up with the single goal of helping the students community for getting them placed in industries according to their skill and ability of the respective student. Students are working not only in India but also aboard with the first footing with the assistance of industry expectations. The cell focuses on the Training Programmes for Employable candidates, where students are exposed to Aptitude Tests, Psychometric Tooling Tests before moving onto Personality Development, Interpersonal Skills, Group Presentation and Resume Writing Skills.

Boys Hostel

The campus has a boys hostel that can accommodate 1364 students. The boys hostel has 570 rooms. All the basic facilities are available at the boys hotel. A special hostel for M.B.B.S. students is also available at the campus.
Girls Hostel

The varsity has a separate hostel for girls students. The girls hostel has 370 rooms and 838 students can be accommodated at the girls hostel. For the convenience of students, all the basic facilities are available. A separate girls hostel for students enrolled into M.B.B.S. programme is also there in the campus.
Gym

Dr. M.G.R.Educational And Research Institute campus has a modern gym for students to use. The gym is equipped with an ample number of equipment for training.

The library of the university has books of various disciplines like pharmacy, engineering, management, medicine, law etc. Furthermore, the library has subscriptions to periodicals, national and international journals.
