The wait is over for many NEET aspirants—Round 2 of NEET UG Counselling 2025 has officially begun! The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has kicked off the registration process today, on August 21, 2025, offering a fresh opportunity for candidates to secure their seat in medical (MBBS/BDS) courses across the country. Whether you missed out in Round 1 or wish to upgrade your seat, this round is crucial. Here’s everything you need to know to make the most of this opportunity.
Round 2 is a golden chance for:
Candidates who missed out on Round 1 – If you didn’t get a seat in the first round, now’s your chance.
Candidates who want to upgrade their seat – If you’re looking to move from a lower-ranked college to a better one, Round 2 allows you to do that. Plus, there’s no penalty for resigning your seat from Round 1, thanks to the free-exit feature.
Round 2 is especially important because it allows for further seat redistribution under the 15% All India Quota (AIQ). So, it’s not just for new candidates—those from Round 1 still have a shot at a better medical college.
Here’s a quick look at the schedule for Round 2:
| Event | Date |

Make sure to stick to these dates and get your registrations in on time!
The registration process is fairly simple, but you need to make sure you follow each step carefully to avoid any errors:
Visit the official MCC website: Go to mcc.nic.in and click on the Round 2 Registration link under the UG Medical Counselling section.
Log in or Register: If you’re new to the process, select “New Registration.” For those participating in Round 1, you can log in with your existing credentials.
Fill in Your Details: Complete the form with your personal information, NEET details, and academic qualifications. Ensure that you upload all required documents, such as your NEET admit card, rank letter, and 10th and 12th-grade certificates.
Complete the Payment: Pay the registration fee, which can vary depending on your category (General, OBC, SC/ST, etc.). This fee is non-refundable, so ensure everything is correct before confirming your registration.
Choice Filling: Once registered, you can fill your choices for preferred colleges and courses. Rank your choices based on priority. Be strategic here, as your seat will be allotted based on these preferences.
Lock Your Choices: Don’t forget to lock your choices before the deadline (Aug 26, 11:55 PM). Once locked, you cannot make any changes.
Confirmation: After completing your registration and locking your choices, keep a printout of the confirmation slip for your records.
Make sure to have the following documents ready for the registration process:
NEET UG Admit Card & Rank Letter
Class 10 & 12 Mark Sheets
ID Proof (Aadhaar, PAN, Passport, etc.)
Caste/PwD/Domicile Certificates (if applicable)
Recent Passport-sized Photos
Here are some important tips to help you navigate Round 2 smoothly:
Register Only Once: You can only register once for Round 2. Multiple registrations could lead to disqualification.
Free Exit Option: If you’ve already been allotted a seat in Round 1 and wish to resign, remember that you can opt for a free exit. This means that your security deposit remains intact, and you can still participate in Round 2 without losing any money.
Stay Updated on State Counselling: If you’re planning to take part in state-level counselling, keep in mind that each state has its own schedule. So, check with your respective state authorities for the latest updates.
The NEET UG Counselling 2025 Round 2 is here, and this is your chance to secure or upgrade your medical seat. Ensure you complete the registration before the deadline and choose your options wisely. It’s a highly competitive process, but with careful planning and timely action, you can make the most of this opportunity.
Good luck to all NEET aspirants! May this round bring you closer to your dream medical college.
