NIOS 10th Admission
The National Institute of Open Schooling has released the schedule for the NIOS 10th registration process and the payment of exam fees for the April/May 2024 public exams. Students can find more details and access the NIOS 10th application form on the official registration page.
For learners enrolled in Stream I, Block I, or those eligible for exams prior to the Oct-Nov 2023 exams, the registration period was from November 21 to December 20, 2023, without any late fee. A late fee of INR 100 per subject applied for registrations between December 21 and December 31, 2023. For late registrations between January 1 and January 10, 2024, a consolidated late fee of INR 1500 per learner was applicable.
The National Institute of Open Schooling 10th admissions take place twice annually—Block-I in April and Block-II in October. The schedule for admissions generally remains consistent each year. For the current cycle, Block-I admissions began on March 16, 2023, and ended on September 15, 2023. The Block-II admissions started on September 16, 2023, and will conclude on March 15, 2024.

NIOS 10th Exam Pattern
The NIOS 10th exam is divided into subjects from Group A and Group B, with the following details:
- The total exam duration is three hours for most subjects.
- For subjects with practicals, the duration is 2.5 hours for theory and 3 hours for both theory and practicals combined.
- Each exam carries a maximum of 100 marks.
Students must familiarize themselves with the complete National Institute of Open Schooling 10th exam pattern for a detailed understanding of the exam structure. A learner must pass in at least five subjects, which include one or two languages from Group A and the remaining three or four subjects from Group B. NIOS 10th Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for admission to the Secondary Course at National Institute of Open Schooling, a learner must meet the following requirements:
- The student must have cleared Class 8th and should be at least 14 years old.
- Learners must provide valid proof of their age.
- A learner can also self-certify by stating, “I have studied enough to pursue the secondary course”.
- Learners who have studied at the secondary level in another institution can also apply to either complete the course or improve their performance.
