Alakh Prakash Goyal Shimla University is a private university established in 2012 under the Himachal Pradesh State Act no 20 of 2013 with a right to confer Degrees as per section 2f of Universities Grants Commission (UGC) Act 1956. AP Goyal Shimla University, Shimla is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of Himachal Pradesh and the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). It is also known as AP Goyal Shimla University. AP Goyal Shimla University is spread over an area of 42 acres. The varsity has 114 faculty members in total. The AP Goyal Shimla University, Shimla  offers courses at four levels: diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral. AP Goyal Shimla University, Shimla conducts APGSU Aptitude Test for admission to diploma, UG and PG courses. Established in 1966, Indira Gandhi Medical College(IGMC) was set up in Shimla to provide education in the field of medicine to local students, eventually, the college grew and now it admits nearly 300+ students in its various undergraduate and postgraduate courses with nearly 20 specializations for the students. The college is affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University and all the admissions are carried out under its guidelines. The college welcomes students based on their performance in NEET UG and NEET PG examinations.
