Soon after independence, the Christian community of Changanacherry, realizing the need for an educational institution for women in Central Travencore, conveyed their wish to their leaders. Rt.Rev.Dr.James Kalacherry the then Bishop of Changanacherry, welcomed the idea whole-heartedly and His Excellency laid the foundation stone for a Women’s College on 12th August 1949. Initially, the college functioned as an annexe of S.B. College. In 1950, when the Catholic Church solemnly proclaimed the bodily assumption of the Blessed Virgin as a dogma of faith, the name ‘Assumption’ was found to be appropriate for this new women’s college, In 1955, Rev. Sr. Xavier S.A.B.S took over as the first woman Principal of the college and with her the college started functioning as an independent institution. Most of Assumption’s academic excellence and disciplinary tradition can be traced back to her period of efficient administration. The Principals who succeeded her shared her vision and steadfastly adhered to Assumption’s ideal of excellence. |
It is a matter of great pride for us that the college that started functioning almost as an annexe to St. Berchman’s College in the academic year 1950-51, with a strength of 358 women students has now grown into a full-fledged first grade college with more than 2000 students in the 19 degree courses, 9 Post graduate courses and other courses in the diverse streams. |

BIRLA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY NOIDA,UTTAR PRADESH
Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Noida is one of the ten extension centers of BIT. The Institute offers various Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctoral level courses such as B.Sc., BBA, MBA, Ph.D., etc. Admission to certain courses will be done on the basis of the Management and Engineering Entrance Exams conducted at the national level. BIT also conducted its own entrance exam for B.Sc. and MCA courses.
Established in the year 1998, BIT Noida, an extension centre of BIT Mesra campus, is located 15 km away from Delhi. It enjoys its location with immediate proximity with industries like IOCL, Bharat Petroleum, Kribco, PDIL, GAIL etc. BIT Noida offers UG, PG and Ph.D programs in regular mode.
UG programs include BBA, BCA and B.Sc (Animation and Multimedia). Admission to these programs are done purely on the basis of merit. However, candidates with 70%+ in their qualifying exam have successful chances of getting admission.
MBA, MCA and M.Tech are the only PG programs offered by BIT Noida. Scores such as CAT/ XAT/ MAT/ CMAT and GATE are accepted for MBA and M.tech admissions respectively.
MBA applicants will have to go through GD & PI rounds for final admission whereas M.Tech applicants will be judged on the basis of GATE score and past academic profile.
For MCA applicants, an online entrance test will be conducted by the institute. Scores secured in the test will be considered while preparing the merit list.
PhD admissions will be conducted on the basis of past academic marks and written test, also conducted by BIT noida. After submission of the application form, a list shall be drawn for the eligible candidates to appear for the written test and interview. The test shall evaluate candidate’s aptitude, logical reasoning and knowledge in the relevant subject applying for. Considering the overall performance throughout their admission process and past academic marks, a merit list will be prepared.
Once the merit list/ Admission intimation letter is sent, candidates must complete the payment of admission fee and confirm their seat acceptance.
