WBJEEB is likely to release WBJEE 2020 Cut Off soon after the counselling rounds. Results for 1st Round of WBJEE Seat Allotment has been declared on the official website after which registration for 2nd counselling round will begin. Click here to check WBJEE Seat Allotment
WBJEE Cut Off 2020 list will comprise of opening and closing ranks for various counselling rounds along with the seat allotment results of previous rounds. Candidates will be able to check opening and closing ranks, and institutes in the list released by the board on the official website in a downloadable format. Click Here WBJEE 2020 Result Announced
All participating institutions will release their own cut-offs for each program. For B.Tech and B.Pharma courses, cut off list will be prepared on overall performance of candidates in WBJEE 2020, including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology.
Institutes in West Bengal also grant admission to candidates on the basis of JEE Main scores along with WBJEE. A reservation of 10% seats is done to offer seats via JEE Main, the rest being offered through WBJEE. Candidates who are willing to apply through JEE Main need to register at the time of WBJEE Counselling & Seat Allotment.
The Cut off score varies each year based on the difficulty level of the paper and the availability of seats as well as the overall performance of the candidates appearing for the examination. Read the article to know the minimum marks required in WBJEE in previous years.
WBJEE 2020- Cut Off Marks Vs Rank
There is a lot of speculation always surrounding the ranks and marks that must be scored to be able to qualify WBJEE Merit List. Since the merit list is prepared considering the marks scored by candidates in the exam, therefore, the table below can provide a rough idea of the marks- ranks ratio for the year 2020.

Factors Affecting WBJEE Cut Off
WBJEEB will not consider class 12 marks for calculating ranks in WBJEE. This simply means that aspirants must perform better in the entrance exam for securing a good rank in the entrance examination. The Board will decide the cut off on the following basis:
- Number of students who appear for the exam
- Level of difficulty of exam
- Total number of seats available
A total of 36,000 seats are expected to be filled in 104 participating colleges of WBJEE 2020. Based on the papers appeared in WBJEE followed by marks scores thereof, the Board will prepare two merit lists namely GMR and PMR. Each participating college of WBJEE will release separate cut off lists for different courses.
The calculation of scores is done through the following steps:
Calculation of Score
The scores are calculated by adding the total number of correct answers and subtracting the incorrect answers. The calculation of scores varies for each category defined under WBJEE Exam Pattern.
Category 1
- Only 1 option is correct.
- Each question carries 1 mark.
- ¼ marks will be deducted on marking incorrect response.
Category 2
- Only 1 option is correct.
- Each question carries 2 marks.
- ½ marks will be deducted on marking incorrect response.
Category 3
- 1 or more options may be correct.
- Only all correct response will fetch 2 marks.
- Combination of correct and incorrect response will be treated incorrect.
- Partially correct answer: total marks = 2 X (no. of correct options/total no. of correct options)
Publication of GMR
Based on the above criteria, marks obtained in WBJEE 2020, the board publishes two merit lists- General Merit Rank List (GMR) and Pharmacy Merit Rank List (PMR). Only those students who have appeared in both the papers, will be considered for merit ranking.
For admission in B.Tech and B.Arch courses, only GMR is taken into consideration. The rank list is prepared in descending order of total marks obtained in WBJEE 2020. Check WBJEE Rank List
The Board issues 3 types of Cut Off Lists. They are:
- Eligibility Cutoff: The minimum score required in the qualifying examination to appear for WBJEE. Students who have cleared/ appeared 10+2 with 45% in aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and other major subjects. They must obtained at least 30% in English separately.
- Qualifying Cutoff: The minimum marks required for passing the entrance examination. Students clearing WBJEE cut off will be included in GMR.
- Admission Cutoff: Based on WBJEE qualifying marks and merit as on GMR, admission rounds will be carried out in participating institutes. The institutes releases branch-wise and category-wise WBJEE Opening and Closing Ranks. The previous years’ WBJEE cut off (admission) is provided in the tables given below.

WBJEE Cut off FAQs
Answer: The WBJEE 2020 Cut off scores are decided by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) and will be declared soon after the WBJEE 2020 Results.
Answer: Yes, WBJEEB will release a separate list of cut off scores for the selection of JEE Main candidates to fill 10% of approved seats in the self-financed Engineering and Technology Colleges of the state.
Answer: Yes, each Participating Institute will have their individual cut-offs for each engineering discipline. The cut-off list will be in the form of opening and closing ranks.
Answer: No. If you do not qualify the WBJEE Cut off score, you will not be considered eligible for WBJEE e-counselling for admission into the participating institutes.
