The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research(PGIMER) was established in the year 1962. The institution is one of the top institutes of medical education in India. Currently, the institution functions under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Indian Nursing Council, and the Government of India.

PGIMER Chandigarh was started with an aim to provide students with quality education and facilities to become highly qualified medical teachers and doctors. Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research(PGIMER) offers more than 50 medical courses such as Medical Courses, Para-Medical Courses, Nursing Courses, Residency Programs, Short-term Training, Elective Training, and MHA, MPH, PGDPHM and Fellowship Courses.

Facilities such as Hostels, Water Sports, Library, Playground, Laboratories, etc, are offered to the students. Admission is offered on the basis of an entrance examination known as INI CET(Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test).

How to Apply

Candidates can find the application form on the website of AIIMS.
After clicking on academic courses, Choose ‘MD/MS/MCH/DM/MDS’.
The candidates are redirected to the PAAR Basic registration page.
Candidates have to bill in details such as personal details, phone nos, reservation categories, and addresses.
Next, click on ‘Generate Registration ID and Password’
System generated Id will appear that candidates should note down for future use.
Candidates can use the Id and password to log in
Next, candidates have to upload a passport size photograph, signature, and thumb impression.
Sumit and take a printout for future use.
After a few days, candidates have to check if their application process is accepted or rejected.
If the application is rejected, candidates can rectify the mistakes and submit the form again.
Candidates have to log in to generate a unique code
Then they can choose preferred courses
After submitting the form, take a printout.
For the final registration, candidates have to log in using the unique code, registration Id, and password.
In this window, candidates have to choose a medium of examination, academic details, and exam center choice.
Application fee payment is the next step.

PGIMER Chandigarh Facilities

Following are the facilities offered by the institute to cater to the need of the students and the faculty members:

Library: The institution has a spacious well-constructed library named ‘Dr. Tulsi Das Library’.The library is open for students and faculty round the clock even on Saturdays and Sundays. The library has 45696 Books,57610 Journals, Videocassettes, and CDs. The library is a part of the British Library, DELNET, and ERMED CONSORTIA. The library has other facilities like wifi, CCTV, RFID.

Playground: The institution has a huge playground on campus which is used by students to play games such as Cricket, football, basketball, and Kabaddi.

Hostels: The institution has 5 hostels named Married Doctors Hostel, Old Doctors Hostel, Kairon Doctor Hostel, New Doctors Hostel, and Sanjeevani Hostel. The hostels have a capacity of 800 people.

Water Sports Complex: A new water sports complex was built a few months ago. The complex consists of an eight-lane swimming pool, Health club, Cafeteria.
