To help candidates prepare better and efficiently for the entrance examinations, the following pointers can be referred to.

  1. Prepare a timetable for studying. Include each topic in every subject and stick to the timetable. This will ensure the entire syllabus is covered at least once. Allocate time daily to studies.
  2. Clear up the basics. The basics will form the base for the more advanced chapters later on. A strong understanding of the basics will be useful.
  3. Practice, practice, practice. Engineering entrance examinations are all about practice. Take mocks and attempt as many as sample papers as possible.
  4. Allocate time separately for the more difficult topics. If needed, approach a teacher or a tutor to help go over the topics again.
  5. Many toppers recommend depending on the NCERT books of the 10+2 levels. One must be thoroughly clear with the school books before purchasing more books.

To secure admission into a top-ranking BTech Aeronautical engineering college, a number of factors come into play. Some of the following tips will be helpful in that regard.

  1. Be aware of the types of questions and the difficulty level of the questions asked in different entrance exams. Some papers are comparatively easier to attempt than the others. This will help in better preparation.
  2. Since questions are asked from the syllabus covered at the 10+2 level of schooling, going over the material and notes would be sufficient. Revision of all basic concepts must be done.
  3. Some papers have an English section and an Aptitude section. Preparation for these sections can be by practicing past papers.
  4. Be aware of all dates and deadlines. Examination application dates, exam dates, etc. are changed and advertised in all major newspapers. It is important to keep track of any such news.
  5. Take a look at the daily news and affairs of the world regularly. Keeping up to date with the news will help in preparation for the exam and counseling round but also act as a break from studying.

The eligibility criteria for BTech Aeronautical Engineering aspirants are not complicated and are as follows. It must be noted that the eligibility criteria will differ from institute to institute.

  1. Candidates must have cleared their 10+2 level examinations with physics, chemistry and mathematics subjects.
  2. The qualifying aggregate score required in 10+2 levels is at least 50% and above.
  3. Candidates who have a diploma in mechanical or in allied sciences, done after class 10th, are also eligible for admission.
  4. The student must pass an Entrance Examination like JEE Mains.

Humans have always considered flight to be the final frontier. We have always been amazed by the bird’s ability to fly. Thus, we with our intellect have overcome our limitations and learnt the knowledge of flight. Aeronautical Engineering deals with the principles for aircraft and spacecraft. It includes the study of aircraft and spacecraft designs so that learners can learn how to build and repair craft.

  1. The industry has been growing rapidly since the 20th century. The industry is sure to grow more as more people travel through air. In developing countries like India the passenger traffic is increasing more than 15% every year.
  2. Aeronautical Engineering is a course with a specialisation and distinction, thus it cannot be done by people studying other streams. This makes the job of an Aeronautical Engineer very important. The world looks up to them.
  3. Aeronautics and aerospace offer huge employment opportunities in research, design, and taking up jobs directly associated with the working and maintenance of aircraft. As a matter of fact, despite a large number of aeronautical job opportunities available, the country is currently facing a dearth of aeronautical engineers. So, choosing to pursue aeronautical engineering is contributing to the country’s growth in aeronautics and aerospace.
  4. Since aerospace is a challenging and critical profession, demanding a high-level of commitment, hard work and dedication from the professional, the most reputed and the largest of organizations in the industry offer lucrative salary packages to aeronautical engineers. In India the salary begins with INR 500000 and with experience it rises to INR 10,00,000 – INR 12,00,000.
  5. As an aeronautical engineer, you could have an opportunity to travel across the globe, and not having to pay for it, since your company will.

There are many subjects under Aeronautical Engineering that are very important and act as specialisation subjects. Some of the subjects are mentioned below:

There are a variety of career options after studying aeronautics engineering. The fields which hold the most potential for specialisations are thermodynamics, propulsion, aerodynamics, and celestial mechanics. People may also study specific aerospace products, for instance, rockets, missiles, helicopters, or military jets.

According to reports, the employment of aerospace engineers is expected to grow by 6% from 2016 to 2026. More research and development is needed for redesign to cause a smaller amount of noise pollution and have better fuel efficiency. Aeronautical Engineers are in demand everywhere, from private and public airline services to aircraft manufacturing.

Aeronautical engineers regularly work for extensive aviation organizations like Airbus, Boeing, and even NASA. These organizations are continually looking for trained engineers. In India aeronautical engineers are mostly employed by ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) and the Defense Ministry. Candidates may also look for jobs available with the National Aeronautical Laboratory, Civil Aviation Department, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Defense Research and Development Laboratories (DRDO).

Aeronautics designers are in extraordinary need in aircraft industrialized divisions, aircraft ventures, and air turbine production plants or design. They can also seek employment in different areas such as design, development, and maintenance as well as in the managerial and teaching jobs in institutes. This is an incredibly well-paid job but it is also very demanding. In future, the demand for aerospace engineers will rise because of their requirement in various sectors. There are lots of job opportunities available in India as well as in foreign countries.

Some of the popular professional avenues open to successful graduates/ postgraduates of the course are listed below with the corresponding salaries offered for the respective positions.
