CDS 1 notification 2021 will be released on October 28, 2020, by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The application form will be made available along with the notification. The last date to fill the CDS application form is November 17, 2020. CDS 1 exam 2021 will be conducted on February 7, 2021.

CDS exam is conducted for the recruitment of candidates as Commissioned Officers in the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force. The exam is conducted twice a year. Every year lakhs of candidates appear for the national-level defence entrance examination in the country.

The eligibility criteria of CDS provide details regarding nationality, age and educational qualification. Candidates should check the eligibility criteria before filling the application form. Only those candidates will be considered for CDS recruitment who fulfills the eligibility criteria.

CDS application form is released online on the official website. The application form can be filled in two parts. Part I comprises candidate’s registration, choosing the preferred branches, verifying details and generation of registration ID. Part I consists of paying the application fees, selection of exam centre, upload scanned images of photograph and signature. The application fees are Rs 200 which can be paid both online and offline. The online application withdrawal facility is made available after completion of the registration process.

CDS admit card is released three weeks before the exam. Candidates need to download the admit card from the official website. The admit card can be downloaded till the day of the exam by logging with either registration number or roll number. The hard copy of the CDS admit card will not be sent to candidates by post.

The exam pattern of CDS has been prescribed by the examination authority. According to CDS exam pattern 2021, the question paper for Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA) and Air Force Academy (AFA) comprises three sections: English, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics. The total marks for the test are 300. The test paper for admission to Officers’ Training Academy comprises two sections: English and General Knowledge. The maximum marks for the test are 200. All questions will be objective type only. The language of question papers of General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics will be set in Hindi and English.

The syllabus highlights the topics that candidates need to prepare for the exam. The topics given in CDS syllabus are of Class 10, 12 and graduation level. Candidates can check below CDS syllabus:

The result of CDS is announced in two stages: written exam and SSB Interview/Final. First, CDS result 2021 for the written exam is announced followed by the declaration of the final result. Based on the performance of candidates in both the rounds, candidates will be selected for admission to various defence academies.

The cut off of CDS is the minimum qualifying marks that candidates need to secure to qualify the exam and become eligible for the next round of selection process. Candidates need to secure separate CDS cut off marks in written exam and SSB Interview for final selection.
