BE Computer Engineering and BTech CSE are very similar courses, the only difference is that BTech CSE focuses more on the technical aspects of the course, while BE Computer Engineering focuses on both theoretical and technical aspects of Computer Engineering. 

Almost all the colleges grant admission to the BE Computer Engineering course on the basis of Entrance Exams. The most popular national level entrance exam for this course is JEE Mains. The admission process for BE Computer Engineering is discussed below:

 

Application Process- In case of government colleges, the candidates will have to apply for the entrance exams first, and then they will have to apply to the college during counselling. But in case of private colleges, the candidates may need to apply for the Entrance Exam for BE Computer Engineering and the college separately at the same time. The entrance exam form is available on the official website of the conducting body, while colleges release applications on their official website. 

 

Entrance Exam- The Engineering Entrance Exams for BE Computer Engineering are mostly CBT or Computer Based Tests, conducted on multiple dates. The candidates will be allotted one date either by the conducting body or they will be selecting it themselves. The admit cards are generally released 10-15 days prior to the entrance exam.

 

Result and Cut Offs- Along with the results of the BE Computer Engineering candidates, the conducting body also releases the cut off lists, which are the minimum marks required to qualify the exam. 

 

E-counselling and Seat Allocation- The candidates who will qualify the BE Computer Engineering Entrance Exam become eligible for appearing for online counselling and seat allocation process. During this, the candidates would have to submit a list of their preferred colleges and lock their choices. The computerised seat allocation system then allocates one seat out of the locked seats on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the BE Computer Engineering Entrance Exam.

  1. A candidate must hold a graduate/post graduate degree with a minimum of 10+2 years of formal education with Mathematics as one of the subjects from a recognized university/institute.

  3. The candidates must be a minimum of 17 years of age or above. However, the maximum age is set to be 23 years.
  4. Candidates should have passed 12th standard or equivalent examination recognized by AICTE and State Government in Physics and Mathematics subjects along with Chemistry / Electronics / Biology / Biotechnology / Computer Science as optional subjects and English as one of the languages of study. 
  5. Students must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate (40% for SC/ST/OBC).

 

The colleges which accept admission through JEE Main follow the eligibility criteria set by the JEE authority. 

 

For being eligible for JEE Main, a candidate must secure minimum 75% aggregate marks at the 10+2 level.

JEE Main: Joint Entrance Examination Main is the most popular Engineering Entrance Exam in India. It is a CBT exam conducted twice a year by NTA. How to Prepare for the BE Computer Engineering Entrance Exam?
