What is BTech Biotechnology?

BTech Biotechnology is a 4 year long undergraduate level bachelor degree program which is divided into 8 semesters.

The course syllabus aims to provide knowledge regarding the integration of biology and technology and the application of the same in real life. It is a field of applied science which requires the usage of organisms, principles of chemical engineering and bioprocessing.

Get complete information about all the BTech Course.

The students who want to join the BTech Biotechnology program should have passed the 10+2 examination under science stream with  Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology as compulsory subjects. They should also have studied English as one of the compulsory languages.

Admission to the course is generally offered on the basis of scores obtained in  JEE Main or JEE Advanced. However, there are various state and university level exams like  MHT CET, WBJEE, OJEEKCET, MI Entrance Exam (Jamia Millia Islamia), MET (Manipal Institute) etc.

The average fees for BTech in Biotechnology ranges from INR 1,20,000 to INR 10,50,000 depending upon the institute of choice.

The average placement package received by the students after completing this course is INR 5 lakh per annum. After taking this course, the candidate will be able to work in Colleges & Universities, Medical Schools, Government Labs, Pharmaceutical Companies, Chemical Factories, etc. Students have the option of doing an MBA after graduation which will allow the student to earn high MBA Salary with good job satisfaction

How to get admission to good BTech Biotechnology Colleges?

To get admission into a good college one needs to ensure to have scored more than 90% in 10+2 level. Apart from this, most of the institutes provide admission to the course on the basis of entrance examinations, hence preparing well for the entrance exams is a must for an aspirant.

Following are some of the points to crack these entrances:

  1. The questions in these entrance exams are generally asked from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English.
  2. The entrance examination mainly consists of  MCQ based questions and numeric type questions. The duration of most of the entrance tests will be 3 hours.
  3. The students should first introspect themselves which of the three subjects is the easiest for them. It is always advised to start with the easiest subject in these exams.
  4. Students should give equal importance to each and every section while preparing for the exam.
  5. It will be beneficial for a student to maintain a separate notebook where all the important formulas and points are noted down for a quick revision.
  6. Students should make sure that they are well versed with tricky chapters like mechanics, optics, etc because most of the tricky questions are asked from these chapters.
  7. Students should properly revise all the inorganic reactions and should work out all the organic reactions properly.
  8. While preparing for the organic reactions, more emphasis should be given on the mechanism of the reaction. Most of the questions are asked from reaction mechanisms only.
  9. Solving previous year papers and writing mock tests are an integral part of the preparation. Aspirants should write at least 10-15 mocks before writing the actual examination.

Last but not least, clear the rounds like counselling and verification round with confidence and success.

Note: Before shortlisting and selecting colleges finally, ensure to check the placement rate of the college, method of course delivery, admission system, and the financial aid offered  there
