CUET PG 2024 registration fee increased, exam duration reduced; NTA introduces major changes

The registration process for the Common University Entrance Test – Postgraduate (CUET PG 2024) has been initiated by the National Testing Agency (NTA). This test is conducted for admission to postgraduate courses in central universities and participating universities. The official website, pgcuet.samarth.ac.in, has provided the link for CUET PG registration 2024.
The NTA has implemented numerous alterations in the examination format of CUET PG 2024, encompassing an augmentation in the application fee, a rise in the number of shifts, a reduction in the duration of the exam, and an expansion in the number of exam cities.

Applicants were notified that the roster of participating universities for CUET PG would continue to expand until the culmination of the CUET PG application procedure on January 24th.

The CUET PG question paper will be available in both English and Hindi, with the exception of language papers and MTech Higher Sciences and Acharya papers (excluding Hindu Studies, Baudha Dharshan, and Indian Knowledge System).

CUET PG 2024 changes introduced

Applicants can check the new changes in exam pattern and application for CUET PG 2024.

Choice of papers -The NTA has implemented a reduction in the number of papers that candidates can select to appear in. In the previous year, applicants were granted the opportunity to choose a maximum of 20 test paper codes overall. Nevertheless, the current regulations state that candidates will now only have the option to select four paper codes.

Number of questions -The number of questions have been reduced from 100 to 75.

CUET PG application fee -The fees for the application and additional tests have been raised for all groups. General candidates are required to pay an additional Rs 600 for participating in extra test papers, whereas candidates from other categories will need to pay Rs 500.

Exam cities –The CUET exam for the year 2024 will be conducted by the NTA in 324 cities across India and abroad. It is worth noting that last year, the exam took place in 337 cities. Additionally, the CUET PG exam will also be conducted in 24 cities abroad this year.

Exam duration – The total time duration given to students to complete the CUET PG last year was 2 hours, while this year the entrance exam will be held for 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Number of shifts –The NTA has decided to conduct the exam in three different shifts this year, unlike the previous year. The first shift will take place from 9 am to 10.45 am, the second shift will be held from 12:45 pm to 2:30 pm, and the third shift will be conducted from 4:30 pm to 6:15 pm.
