In this exam, there is a penalty for wrong answers, with 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect response. IBPS PO Mains Exam Pattern 2025
- The Descriptive Paper has been introduced by IBPS in its Mains Examination, similar to the SBI PO Exam. This paper will assess candidates’ written skills and will consist of an essay and a letter, which will be worth 25 marks. Candidates will have 30 minutes to complete this section.
- There have been changes made to the overall time allotted for each section. Additionally, there will be no separate paper for Computer Applications. Instead, Reasoning is now combined with the Computer Aptitude section, which will have a total of 45 questions worth 60 marks.
- It is important to note that there will be a penalty of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer marked in the Objective Tests.
- Furthermore, the overall time allotted for the IBPS 2025 Mains Objective Exam has been extended from 140 minutes to 180 minutes, with an additional 30 minutes for the descriptive test. This means that the total time for the IBPS Mains is now 3 hours and 30 minutes.
- Lastly, the tests for Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude, English Language, and Data Analysis & Interpretation are divided into two parts: Section A and Section B. All questions in both sections are mandatory, with some questions worth 2 marks and others worth 1 mark.

IBPS PO 2025 Interview Process
Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria for the Mains Exam will ultimately be summoned for the Interview Process conducted by IBPS. The Interview Process will be assessed on a scale of 100 marks, and candidates must score a minimum of 40% to qualify for this stage. However, for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD categories, the qualifying marks have been reduced to 35%.
Penalty for Incorrect Responses: Candidates who attempt a question incorrectly in both the IBPS 2025 Preliminary Exam and IBPS 2025Mains Exam will have 0.25 marks deducted. However, there will be no deduction of marks for questions left blank or unattempted by a candidate.
Final Selection Process: The selection of the Probationary Officer will be based on the cumulative score of the Mains Exam and the interview process. The weightage of these two phases of examination will be in the ratio of 80:20 respectively. After the completion of the Interview Process for the IBPS 2025 Exam, a merit list will be generated. Candidates who are included in the list will receive a joining letter from the Bank of their choice.
