About SAT 2022

SAT exam is a mandatory test to take to seek an undergraduate degree overseas. SAT is administered by the College Board, a not-for-profit organisation headquartered in New York. Age Limit To Appear In SAT 2021

As per the regulations set by College Board, any high school student is able to take the SATs. Generally, candidates who are in the 10th and the 11th standard attempt the SAT. In other words, an appropriate age to take the SAT is in between 17 to 19 years.

Also, the College Board has defined a certain set of rules for students who are less than 13 years old or are studying in a grade lower than the eight grade. These rules are as follows:

  • Students who are younger than 13 years old can only register by phone or mail. Students younger than 13 years of age can not register online due to internet privacy laws. There is a fee waiver for students who register via phone.

  • Students studying in a grade below eighth need not include a photo with their registration. However, they must carry a valid photo ID at the test centre.

  • Students who are above 21 years of age must carry with them an official government-issued photo ID at the test centre.

The College Board has not set any educational or academic eligibility criteria for SAT. The globally renowned test can be taken by any High School student who seeks admission to colleges majorly in the United States but also in Canada. The SAT will only evaluate the candidate’s knowledge, aptitude, skills and understandings that are considered critical for college and career readiness. However, it is advised to have a good grasp of the English Language to appear in an SAT, since the medium of instruction of the test is English.

In case a student has a documented disability, he/she may be eligible for accommodations when they take the SAT. Some of the available accommodations for the SAT with a documented disability include extended time, reading and seeing accommodations, and extended breaks along with additional breaks.

Disabilities considered under this category may include learning disorders; blindness and visual impairments; motor impairments; physical and medical impairments such as diabetes, cerebral palsy; among others.

In order to prove one’s disability, the student must have documentation of the same such as a report from a doctor or a recent psychoeducational evaluation. The type of documentation required will completely depend on the student’s disability and the accommodations they ask for.
