Selection Criteria
Candidates seeking admission to the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar will be granted admission on the basis of the following national level entrance examinations:

- Institute scholarships- IITG offers four scholarships to UG students over 10 months. The scholarships are distributed over four areas- Academic excellence, Excellence in sports, Excellence in Art and Culture, and Excellence in social work and leadership.

Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar Facilities
The University offers a plethora of facilities that cater to the needs of students as well as the faculties.
Hostels– IITG has eight centrally air-conditioned hostels that are maintained by student committees. These hostels have a number of conveniences and facilities which include eateries, laundry facilities, student lounge, music room, sports room, and convenience stores.
Mess and Canteens– IITG is the only academic institution to be declared as ‘Eat Right Campus by the FSSAI. All the canteens and eateries on the campus have been given a 5-star rating by the Food Corporation. This includes the special tea store that serves a variety of hot and cold beverages, the AMUL store specializing in dairy products, Nutririch which caters to a variety of juices and milkshakes, and all the grocery stores on the campus.
Clubs– To promote extracurricular activities amongst students, they are encouraged to join cultural clubs that organize different events such as Photography club, Drama club, Dance club, Music club, literary club, Technology clubs, and Film Making club.
Medical facilities– Qualified medical professionals, trained nurses, and physiotherapists are available at the Medical Centre of the campus. The availability of medical supplies and services are maintained throughout the year.

Admission to M.Sc Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics program is based on a valid score in IIT- JAM.
Selection to M.Sc Cognitive Science is based on the written Entrance exam and following interview as conducted by IITGN .
Ph.D
Admission will be offered on the basis of written test and interview.
The Institute will invite a limited number of candidates for a written test and interview based on the academic records, statement of purpose, etc. The final selection will be mainly based on academic credentials, written test and/or interview.

Candidates seeking admission to IIT GN are required to apply via JoSAA. Candidates qualifying the JEE Advanced can register for JoSAA. Check the steps given below to register for JoSAA:
- Log-in using their JEE Advanced 2020 roll number and password.
- After log-in, check all their basic details like, gender, nationality, state code of eligibility contact information etc.
- Check and reconfirm the details.
- Fill branch and select IIT Gandhinagar as college of preference.

Eligible candidates admitted to full-time M.Tech. the program will receive a monthly scholarship of INR 12,400/-.
Travel Scholarships
Institute encourages M.Tech. students to present their research work at national and international conferences and provide travel scholarships of upto INR 60000/- to such students.

Financial Support
- Merit-cum-means scholarship of INR 1000 p.m. along with the free tuition is available for up to 25% of the students.
- 25% of students enrolled in each batch may be awarded MCM scholarships provided they satisfy the selection criteria.
- The MCM scholarship entitles the award of Rs. 1000/- per month for ten months and tuition fee waiver.
- Students belonging to the SC/ST category would be given a Free Basic Mess facility and a pocket allowance of INR 250/- per month in addition to the tuition fee waiver subject to the parental income limit of INR 4.5 LPA.
Scholarships
- Candidates who got admitted to the MA program of IITGN will receive a monthly scholarship of INR 5,000.
- A travel scholarship of INR 60,000 will be granted to M.A students to present their research work at national and international conferences.
- All students admitted to M.A program are eligible for hostel accommodation on a sharing basis.

IIT Gandhinagar JEE Advanced Cutoff
IIT Gandhinagar offers a B.Tech. degree in a total of 6 different departments. Admission to these programs is done through the IIT JEE-Advanced examination which is conducted in the month of May every year.
JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) controls the entire admission procedure. A total of 7 rounds of admissions and counseling take place each year.
The cutoff is released in the form of opening and closing ranks. It is further divided into categories and each category is further divided on the basis of gender.
Usually, students with an All India Rank below 1600 get admission into CSE at IIT Gandhinagar. CSE is the most sought after course among engineering aspirants. The lowest rank for getting admission in IIT Gandhinagar in 2019 was 9291 in Materials Science and Engineering.

It is quite evident from the above comparison table that the cutoffs for this year were lower than those for the last year. Students with relatively lower ranks in the final JEE Advanced merit list also managed to get admission into IIT Gandhinagar for a B.Tech. degree in one of the programs offered. The difficulty level of the 2019 JEE Advanced question paper could be a reason for the drop in the closing ranks for admission.
Students usually prefer other IITs like IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, and IIT Kharagpur over IIT Gandhinagar and thus the cutoffs for these colleges are often much higher.

Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT GN), one of the youngest IITs in the league has reached a new benchmark this placement season. As per the sources, 2 BTech students were offered 40 LPA by a Germany-based company, the highest ever at the institute. The UG programs collectively saw an over 80% placement record and the PG placement increased threefold.

IIT Gandhinagar offers MCM Scholarship and New Merit Scholarship to the candidates on the following criteria –
Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarship of INR 1000/- P.M to students who are meritorious but come from an economically weak background.
New Merit Scholarships are offered by the Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar to the Indian students who have outstanding performance in academics, sports, arts, culture, social work and leadership. This scholarship is different from the merit-cum-means scholarships and will be awarded only on the basis of achievements in respective fields.
Free basic messing and pocket allowance of INR 250 is awarded to all SC/ ST students whose parents annual income is not more than INR 4,50,000. This scholarship is awarded to the students who secure the highest CPI in their respective discipline every year.
