Established in 1985, G Pulla Reddy Engineering College is affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Anantapur. The college is accredited by NAAC with a grade of ‘A+’. Since 2006, G Pulla Reddy Engineering College is functioning as an autonomous institution. G Pulla Reddy Engineering College is commonly known as GPREC Kurnool and is managed by G. Pulla Reddy Charities Trust, Hyderabad. G Pulla Reddy Engineering College is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The college is recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC). Five UG Programmes namely CE, CSE, ECE, EEE, ME are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). G Pulla Reddy Engineering College was ranked 190th in the engineering category in NIRF Rankings 2020. The college has been recognised as a “College with Potential for Excellence” by UGC.

B.Tech first years students are offered hostel facilities in a private hostel located about 1.5 km away from the college. Candidates must note that seats will be offered on first cum first serve basis.

Scholarships are provided by the college at both UG as well as PG levels. The scholarship is provided on the basis of rank. The eligibility for an availing scholarship is given below:
- Complete tuition fee waiver for B.Tech: Candidate must have secured rank between 1 to 2000 in EAMCET.
- Government of Andhra Pradesh scholarships and tuition fee reimbursement for eligible students.
- Stipend, tuition fee reimbursement & scholarships at PG level (M.Tech).
- Candidates admitted on the basis of GATE rank are eligible for a stipend from AICTE.
- Candidates admitted on the basis of PGCET rank are eligible for tuition fee reimbursement from the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
