Swami Vivekanand Institute of Engineering & Technology (SVIET) Chandigarh is one of the institutions under Swami Vivekanand Group of Institutes (SVGoI). SVIET was established in 2014 as a unitary by the approach of the All India Council of Technical Education India (AICTE). The institute is located in Mohali, Punjab. Candidates from regions like Egypt, Nepal, Assam, Nagaland, Jharkhand, Delhi-NCR, Himachal Area upper & lower), Uttrakhand, Chandigarh, Panchkula, Mohali, UP, etc. take admission to the institute.

SVIET offers UG (BTech), PG (MTech, MCA & MBA)) and polytechnic/ diploma programmes in full-time mode. Over 500 students are studying with up to 100% scholarships at the institute. SVGoI broke the placements records with the highest package of Rs 43 LPA in 2020, wherein over 250 recruiters participated.

Additionally, SVGOI has tie-ups with various banks to offer easy education loans to selected students. Students are also offered comprehensive hostel (AC and Non AC) facilities separately within the campus. However, due to limited seats, hostel accommodation is not offered to applicants who are from nearby areas.

Here are some of the key highlights related to SVIET Chandigarh:

Swami Vivekanand Institute of Engineering & Technology Chandigarh offers a total of 17 courses in full-time mode. At UG level, the institute offers a four-year BTech programme in three specialisations. Polytechnic/ diploma programmes are offered in seven specialisations for a duration of three years each.

At PG level, MTech is available in five specialisations of two-year duration each. Apart from MTech, the institute offers three-year MCA and two-year MBA programmes as well. The table below presents SVIET courses, their admission criteria and fee:

SVIET Chandigarh admission to its BTech, MCA and diploma courses is merit-based while for MBA and MTech, candidates are selected based on qualifying the respective entrance exam. The application process for SVIET Mohali admission is available in online as well as offline mode.

The selection process comprises an English language test, followed by GD&PI. Also, programme-based written test/ creative/ physical test might be conducted wherever necessary. The below table presents the eligibility criteria of courses offered by the institute, along with accepted entrance exams:

* Admission for 85% seats for residents of Punjab and 15% seats for outsiders shall be made strictly on the basis of valid GATE score and in case seats haven’t been filled under respective categories, admission shall be considered on the basis of inter-se- merit in qualifying examination.

SVIET conducts a special entrance-cum-scholarship test for deserving students to earn scholarships opportunity. The aim of the SVIET Entrance Exam Eligibility (EEE) test is to recognise hardworking, intelligent and bright minds and their achievements. This test is conducted in various cities across India to enable students to get admission to SVIET.

Below mentioned are the scholarships offered by SVIET Chandigarh:

SVGOI’s COVID scholarship programme was started for financially affected families during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The scholarship is provided by the SRNR Memorial and Charitable Trust
Seats under the scheme are limited and allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis
Candidates are required to provide a low-income certificate and proof of residence from the relevant official authority during the admission process
Also, they need to submit original documents at the time of seat booking

Infrastructure facilities at Swami Vivekanand Institute of Engineering & Technology, SVIET Patiala are the best.
The college has separate buildings for every department and branch.
There is good sports infrastructure in the campus with 4 sports grounds in the campus.
College also has many places for good meals inside the campus like the cafeteria
SVIET has ones of the best state of art laboratories which are self-contained and matching with the Industry Standards. Fully equipped Labs for all streams.

SVGOI has a well-equipped Air-Conditioned Seminar Hall in the college building that can accommodate over 200 people for organizing conferences, seminars and guest lectures
Spacious Indoor Auditorium that can house over 1000 people, where all co-curricular activities are organized. The auditorium is well furnished and equipped with modern projector, public address system and other audio-visual aids.
Round the clock, medical facilities are provided to students and staff to attend to unforeseen medical emergencies.
SVIET has tied up with Union Bank of India and Punjab National Bank for operating zero balance accounts and debit/credit card for students for facilitating hassle-free banking operations.
ATMs set ups avilable in the campus for facilitating easy access cash transactions.
On the spot, Education Loan facility from UBI is also available.

Hostel Facilities

Swami Vivekanand Institute of Engineering & Technology, [SVIET] Patiala Hostel Details:

SVIET infrastructure facilities include separate hostels for both boys and girls.
It has provided with excellent mess arrangements with hygienically cooked three meals a day.
It has recreation rooms in both hostels with T.V, newspapers and indoor games.
The hostel has round the clock security to ensure the safety of the hostels.
It has R.O. water supply and Gym facility are provided to the hostlers.

Library Facilities

SVGOI possesses very well equipped libraries for catering to the needs of students, research scholars and faculty in their respective streams. All libraries together have a stock of more than 30000 text and reference books, journals and magazines, information aids including newspapers, market reports and many other necessary outputs. The library functions on an open access system for the faculty, staff and students. Along with the main centralized library, there are individual libraries as well in different departments to provide books to the students in the department itself.

Sports & Other Facilities

Sports/ Gym:

Sport at SVIET teaches students about sportsmanship, teamwork and courage. Students learn to be gracious winners and good losers. Sport plays an important part in the life of most SVIETians students, with a 90 percent participation rate. Outdoor Sports facilities like Football, Basketball, Lawn tennis, Athletics are available at SVIET campus itself under the supervision of full-time sports coaches. Indoor recreational games like table tennis, snooker, carom, chess tables are available in the common rooms.To keep students in good health a fully loaded gym with latest cardio machines and cross-training equipment is established in the campus.

Transport:

Although well connected through Public Transport, the institution provides its own buses for the convenience of students and staff at a very nominal fee. The institute maintains a fleet of buses from all major cities i.e. are Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula, Ambala, Patiala, Rajpura, Gobindgarh, Zirakpur, Pinjore, Nabha, Bhawanigarh, Devigarh, Samana, Patran, Sirhind, Khanna, Dhuri, Malerkotla, Sangrur and Sunam.In addition, car facility has been provided to the Senior Faculty.
