Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH), despite established in 2008, the college has achieved 8th rank in India for Engineering as per the NIRF 2020 rankings. IIT Hyderabad is way better in terms of placements. In the first phase of IIT Hyderabad 2019-20 placements, students were able to receive the highest salary package up to INR 60.41 LPA whereas the average salary package remained at INR 22 LPA. The top-paying companies in the placement cycle were TSMC, Microsoft, Richtek, Denso, and D.E Shaw.

Latest Updates: 

  1. IIT Hyderabad PhD admission application process is still on. The last date to apply for the same is November 11, 2020.
  2. IIT Hyderabad M.Tech admission is based on GATE exam scores. GATE 2020 exam was conducted between February 1 to February 9, 2020. The result for the same was declared on March 16, 2020. The online registration & fee payment and online choice filling started on May 13, 2020, and concluded on June 12, 2020. The counseling process by CCMT ended on August 19, 2020. Now the candidates can participate in the special round for the final admission. The deadline to submit the online applications to M.Tech. CSE 2020 special round of admission was extended till October 12, 2020. Now the portal has been closed.
  3. IIT Hyderabad M.Sc admissions are based on JAM exam scores. The admissions for the 2020 session are complete. Candidates can now apply for JAM 2021 from September 10, 2020, to October 15, 2020.

IIT Hyderabad Admission

The candidates seeking admission in the Institute are required to fulfill the eligibility criteria as per the courses. They are required to fill an online application form available on the official website of the Institute. An application fee of INR 300 for General and OBC (INR 150 for SC/ ST/ PwD Category and Females) should be paid through SBI Collect.

The students of IIT Hyderabad are awarded various scholarships by the institute as well as from international institutions.

 

MCM Scholarship:
-10% of the students are proposed for grant of awards
-The other economically backward students (whose family income is between INR 1 – 5 LPA) who avail 2/3rd remission of the tuition fee will be eligible for 1/3rd reimbursement of tuition fee per semester + pocket money of INR 1000  per month.

IIT Hyderabad Faculty

IIT Hyderabad Campus 

The campus of the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad is spread across a massive 576 acres located in Kandi, Sangareddy. It is situated at NH65 and lies near the outer Ring Road. The following are the facilities offered by the institute to cater to the needs of the students: 

Labs: There are 105 laboratories available on the IIT Hyderabad campus that are used for teaching and research purposes. Every year, new state-of-the-art equipment is added to these labs. 

Hostel: Hostels for male and female students are available on campus. Every student that avails the hostel receives a single semi-furnished room which is designed with the radiant cooling technique. There is a mess facility available in the hostel. 

Transport: There is a transport service available for the faculty and students. There are buses that regularly travel from the college to the Lingampally railway station and back. The schedule for these buses can be found on the college website.

IIT Hyderabad B.Tech Admission 2021

For B.Tech program, Candidates who have secured at least 75% marks in 10+2 examinations or have maintained a position in the top 20 percentile are eligible to apply. SC/ST category candidates will be given a marks relaxation of 10% in the eligibility criteria.

IIT Hyderabad M.Tech Admission 2021

Indian Institute of Technology offers a full-time M.Tech program for a  duration of 2 years in 19 specializations.  In addition to the two-year M.Tech program, IIT-H also offers a three-year M.Tech program for which the admission is through an interview.

However, the department reserves the right not to admit anyone on a three-year program if suitable candidates are not found.

The CSE department does not offer a part-time M. Tech. program. Admission to the M. Tech. program is solicited in three categories:

  1. 2-year M.Tech in CS with Teaching Assistantship (TA)
  2. 3-year M.Tech in CS with Research/Project Assistantship (RA)

IIT Hyderabad Placements 2020: Highest CTC: 60.41 LPA & Average CTC: 22.07 LPA

IIT Hyderabad kick-started its 2020-21 placement drive on December 1, 2020. The institute witnessed the participation of 222 students who got placed within the first phase of the placement drive itself. The students received 30 international offers from 63 companies. The students had already bagged 46 pre-placement offers this year, bypassing last year’s (2019-2020) total PPOs of 37.

The Placement Report for the year 2020 had been released by IIT Hyderabad. The institute had witnessed a surge of domestic as well as International offers. IIT Hyderabad began its Phase-I Placements on December 1, 2019, and concluded it on December 12, 2019. The institute inaugurated its placements with 53 job offers from 15 companies on the first day itself. A total of 490 students had registered for placements across different departments during the 2019-20 batch. A total of 325 offers from 120+ companies were rolled out by the end of phase I of campus placements, including 37 pre-placement offers (PPOs), which are the results of student internships, according to a statement by the institute.

As many as 38 international offers have been secured by the students during phase I of placements. IITH witnessed the growth in placement percentage and the highest package offered in the year 2020 was INR 60.41 LPA while the average CTC stood at INR. 22.07 LPA.

The top recruiters were- Infosys, Dell, Deloitte, Microsoft, AMD Bangalore, Amazon, Oracle, and etc. 

IIT Hyderabad is the first IIT to include a 6-month internship in the curriculum. B.Tech. students can now pursue a 6-month Internship at any firm or university.

IIT Hyderabad inaugurated its 2021 placement drive on December 1, 2020. The institute concluded phase one of its 2021 placements on December 6, 2020. The students bagged over 222 placement offers (30 International Offers) from 63 companies. A total of 30 International offers were provided by 8 recruiters based in Japan and Taiwan. More international offers are expected in Phase 2.

IIT Hyderabad Rankings 2020 – NIRF, QS Global Engineering, THE

Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad), just a decade old has been successfully making improvements in its rank numbers in various forums. According to NIRF, it has jumped two places up since the year 2017 to rank at eighth position in the year 2019 and has retained its eighth position in the year 2020. 

It has also been ranked in the top ten (#7) according to JagranJosh showing a better position than the previous year (#8). It has held the 2nd rank after IIT Madras in EduVidya rankings for an engineering college in South India.
