Established in 1909, the Indian Institute of Science is an Institute of Eminence located in Bangalore. IISc Bangalore started its venture with the joint efforts of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, the Government of India and the Maharaja of Mysore. IISc Bangalore has 45 departments under six divisions namely: Division of Biological Sciences, Division of Chemical Sciences, Division of Electrical, Electronics and Computer Science (EECS), Division of Interdisciplinary Sciences, Division of Mechanical Sciences, Division of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore Facilities

IISc Bangalore in itself is a self-contained campus that provides almost all required facilities in the premises itself. The list of facilities available is detailed below:

Travel agencies: The college campus includes two tour and travels companies that provides domestic and international travel services

Hostel: The campus has hostels with mess and other required facilities for outstation students and staff. There are boys, girls and guest rooms with total capacity of 3000 students

Gymkhana: The campus has facilities for health and wellness including swimming pool, gymnasium, kung fu classes, badminton court etc.

Health Center: IISc has a well-equipped health center that undertakes outpatient and inpatient services along with facilities of clinical lab, dental unit, operation theaters etc.

IISc Bangalore Scholarships

Candidates that are wishing to take admission to the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore are eligible for scholarships/fellowships from CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/AICTE/DAE (NBHM)/ DST as the case may be. Candidates are offered IISc Bangalore scholarships at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. The value of scholarships awarded to the candidates are as follows: Ph.D- INR 31000/35000, M.Tech- INR 12400, M.Tech/M.Des- INR 12400, Integrated Ph.D- INR16000/31000/35000. Students at IISc Bangalore can also apply to various national and state scholarships.

IISc Bangalore has an active placement cell known as OCCaP or the Office of Career Counselling and Placement that conducts recruitment drives annually for final year students. There are opportunities made available for placements as well as internship programs

For internships of 2020-21 batch that commenced in February 2020, highest stipend offered on campus is 1.15 lacs per month while average stipend was 57k per month

Around 25% of the students got placed with salary package under the range INR 20 LPA to INR 30 LPA
