The eminent Doctor (Late) N.S. Palaniappan, MBBS., DLO., who had a similar idea to start a college on behalf of Anna Memorial Committee in Coimbatore provided active support to this Mission.

Well educated and eminent personalities like (Late) Thiru.N.Kumaraswamy, (Late) Thiru.K.P.Muthuswamy, M.A., Thiru.V.S.Chinnaswami Gounder, (Late) Thiru.S.R.Rathnaswami Gounder, (Late) Thiru.R.Ramasamy, Texmo Industries, (Late) Thiru.M.Subbiah Gounder, (Late) Thiru. C.S.Ramachandran B.A., (Late) Er.K.M.Elangovan, B.E., and the present active member of the College Council and Committee, Er.R.Somasundaram B.E.,FIE., contributed their might in establishing this higher education institution.

The Thudiyalur Cooperative Agricultural Services Limited was munificent enough to donate about Rs.75,000/- which included the dividend of 16,000 farmers. Other generous donors from the agricultural community and philanthropists of Kongunadu also have made valuable contributions

Dr.M.Aruchami, one of the founders of the College, the first Principal, former Secretary and the present President, a dedicated educationist with his sharp academic acumen, futuristic vision, the strong, impartial, transparent and able leadership has guided this Institution to its present state of fame and glory. Er.R.Somasundaram B.E.,FIE., a man of strong and clear convictions endowed with keen sense of imagination and dedication is presently serving as a Member in the College Council and the College Committee and is guiding the institution on the right path. Dr. C. A.Vasuki daughter of Dr. M. Aruchami and alumna of this college, a strong achiever has taken over charge as the Secretary of the College at present.

The College is ideally located in serene and rural surroundings not far from the city. It is conveniently connected with all parts of the city through frequent town buses plying from various destinations. Started in the year 1973 with a humble beginning, the college has grown magnificently in academic stature with autonomous status having 13 research programmes, 11 PG programmes and 22 UG programmes. The college is imparting higher education to approximately 5000 students, majority of whom hail from socially and economically weaker sections of the society. More than 60% of the students studying in the college are girls and thus the college is playing a pivotal role in women empowerment and social justice.

The University Grants Commission, New Delhi, conferred the Autonomous Status to our College in the academic year 2004 – 05. In the third cycle of re-accreditation, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council has awarded “A” grade with the CGPA of 3.64 out of 4 to the college. In the fourth cycle of re-accreditation, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council has awarded “A+” grade. The University Grants commission has awarded the prestigious award of College of Excellence during 2016-2017.

Kongunadu Arts and Science College B.Sc, BA, BCA, B.Com, BBA Admission 2022

B.Sc (Aided and Unaided) program with 11 specializations, BA in English Literature, B.Com General, B.Com CA, BBA, BBA CA program of 3-year is offered by Kongunadu Arts and Science College to the aspirants. Admission to any UG program run by the college is given solely on the basis of candidate’s merit in the qualifying examination.

Only candidates who have passed HSC/ 10+2 with Mathematics/ Chemistry/ Physics/ Zoology as one optional subject and English as compulsory language subject are eligible to get admission in B.Sc program. Similarly, the minimum eligibility requirement of BA, BBA program is candidates must have passed 10+2 in a relevant discipline. Those who are seeking admission to B.Com program must have passed 10+2 with Commerce or Accountancy.

The College offers M.Sc (Aided and Unaided) program with total 7 specializations, MA in English Literature, M.Com (General and International Business) and PGDCA courses. Admission to any of the PG course is given on the basis of candidate’s merit in the qualifying examination as per the instruction of Bharathiar University.

The minimum eligibility requirement for admission to M.Sc (Aided and Unaided) program is applicant must hold B.Sc Degree in relevant disciplines from a recognized University. Candidates who have BA Degree in English Literature are eligible to get admission in MA English course. Similarly, those who have B.Com/ B.Com CA or relevant Degree are eligible for M.Com admission. For PGDCA program minimum eligibility requirement is Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized University.

Kongunadu Arts and Science College runs full-time and part-time M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs with 12 specializations in each course. M.Phil. program is of 1-year and Ph.D. course is of 3-years. Candidates with PG Degree in relevant discipline from a recognized University are considered eligible for admission to both M.Phil. and Ph.D. program.

Admission to any Doctoral program is given on the basis of candidate’s merit in the PG Degree course and their performance in the entrance test and interview round conducted by the college as per the instructions of Bharathiar University.

Kongunadu Arts and Science College Application Process 2022

Candidates shall apply separately for Aided and Unaided UG/PG programs and M.Phil./ Ph.D. programs. The application form is made available at the college office and could be filled online through the website of the college. Candidates shall collect the application form of M.Phil. and Ph.D. courses in person from the Registrar, Bharathiar University. Payment of the application fee could be done in both online and offline modes.

There are sports fields for volleyball, throw ball and badminton inside the Ladies’ Hostel. Hostel students are encouraged to use these sports facilities in addition to the regular sports facilities.

The Canteen is situated inside the college campus. At present the Management has made arrangements with Aroma Bakes – one of the top bakeries in Tamil Nadu to serve foods and drinks (Soft drinks, ice creams, bakery items, lunch and hot snacks) at reasonable rates in a clean and pleasant ambiance.
Auditorium

The Conference Hall is a 2100 sq.ft. air-conditioned, well-furnished structure with a seating capacity of 200. Department level seminars, workshops, staff meetings, students council meetings are conducted in this hall.
Medical/Hospital

Kovai Medical Centre and Hospital (KMCH) is the officially recognized hospital for the College. The staff and students of this College are eligible to get 50% concession from the medical expenses when admitted as inpatients.
Wifi

The College provides High Speed Broad Band Internet Facilities to all the Departments, Laboratories and the Library and Information Centre. Wi-fi Internet facility is available in the Library and Information Centre. Students and staff can access and download the required information related to their studies, research work, current affairs, and trends and be in the know.

Kongunadu Arts and Science College Placement

The placement cell at Kongunadu Arts and Science College has given the tremendous growth in the results of placed students in the previous years. It has 5 staff coordinators from various departments who help the students in nourishing their talent. The college is visited by reputed MNCs across the country for campus recruitment programs.

Students get placed in well-renowned companies from the placement programs and the placement cell at KASC plays a pivotal role in that as it enables students to develop their personality. Students get to develop their personality and presentation skills which helps them in shining bright at the placement programs.

Kongunadu Arts and Science College Scholarship

KASC does not provide any scholarship under its name to its students. However, students seek a scholarship from the State and Central Government to fund their studies. Various NGOs and Non-private organizations also provide scholarships to students who belong to the backward class. Meritorious students can also take benefit of these scholarships. Below given is the list of few scholarships that the students can avail.

Bharat Petroleum Scholarship for Higher Studies supports the students who wish to study at renowned institutes by funding their college fees. Candidates who have an overall grade point average (OGPA) of not less than 6.0 in the 10 points scale of grading system or its equivalent can apply for this scholarship.
Central Sector Scholarship Scheme provides a scholarship of Rs. 10,000 per annum in the first-year undergraduate course who have scored more than 80 percentile in their previous year.
Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for Minorities provides a scholarship of Rs. 6,000 per annum to the students belonging from the minority category. Students should have more than 50 percentile marks and the family’s annual income should be less than Rs. 2,00,000.
Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students provides Rs.25,000 per month for the initial 2 years. Candidates must belong from the minority category with the family’s annual income should be less than Rs. 2,00,000. Previous Year Percentage should be more than 50 percentile.
