1. What is CUCET

The CUCET (“Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test”) is an entrance exam conducted by Chandigarh University for admission into its various Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) programmes. It also serves as a gateway for merit-based scholarships.
Because of its dual role (admission + scholarship), doing well in CUCET can open up significant benefits (e.g., up to 100% scholarship) at the university.

2. Is the CUCET at Chandigarh University “tough”?

  • The difficulty level of any exam is relative to a student’s preparation, subject strength and stream. For CUCET, the exam pattern shows it is a 100-question, 2-hour online MCQ test, no negative marking.

  • Because there’s no negative marking, one advantage is that you can attempt most/all questions without penalty for wrong answers. This often reduces “fear factor”.

  • The syllabus is largely aligned with Class 12 (and stream subjects) so if you’re well-prepared with NCERT + practice, the exam becomes manageable.

  • If someone hasn’t revised fundamentals or has weak concepts, the exam might feel challenging (because time-bound, 100 questions in 120 minutes).
In short: CUCET isn’t extremely “tough” in the sense of high difficulty or negative marking, but it is competitive (because of scholarship stakes) so good preparation is needed.

3. Sample Paper / Practice

While a specific “official sample paper” may be available on the university website, you can use the previous year question-paper pattern (which is published). For example, the official portal provides question-paper pattern details by stream for 10+2 Medical/Non-Medical/Commerce/Arts.
Tips for using sample papers:

  • Solve full length (100 questions, 2 hours) to build stamina and time-management.

  • Prioritise weaker topics (e.g., if your Maths is weak, allocate more practice).

  • Since no negative marking, practice attempts for all questions you are confident about.

  • Review mistakes: why a question was wrong, revisit concept/chapter.

  • Use the stream-specific pattern (e.g., Science candidates will have heavy subject-questions; Arts might have more General Studies + subject combinations).

Scholarship Opportunities through CUCET 2026 Phase I

Chandigarh University offers lucrative scholarships to meritorious students based on their performance in CUCET 2026 Phase I. The scholarship structure is as follows:

  • Score Range: 90.01 to 100 Marks: 100% Scholarship
