IISc Bangalore was established in 1909 with active support from Jamsetji Tata and is also locally known as the ‘Tata Institute’. The institute was granted the deemed to be university status in the year 1958 and the Institute of ‘Eminence status’ in 2018. The NIRF ranked IIS No 1 among the top universities in India.
