JEE Main 2020: How is this exam going to be different from the previous exams?

With few days left for the JEE Main 2020 Second Session examination, read do’s and don’ts related to the JEE Main exam and also how this year guidelines are different from previous year’s.

Amid the deadly COVID-19 outbreak, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided to conduct the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) 2020 Main Second Session examination from September 1 to 6 in computer-based mode at 605 Centres for BTech/BE and 489 centres for BArch and BPlanning located in 224 cities throughout the country. .

Due to the COVID-19 situation and growing new cases everyday, the NTA has released extra precautionary measures to conduct the JEE Main exam. The authority has released several important instructions and guidelines to be followed on exam day. All students have to follow the protocols strictly suggested by the authority for conducting the exam. So, candidates looking forward to appear for the JEE Main 2020 exam must read and understand all the instructions and guidelines issued by the exam conducting authority to avoid any last-minute mistakes or confusion.

JEE Main 2020: Difference in the precautionary measures this year

Follow safety guidelines: All the students must follow instructions as directed by the officials at the JEE Main exam centres such as social distancing, forming lines, frisking, phased entry, use of hand sanitizers, etc.

Maintain social distancing: Students must be careful and keep a proper distance with other students. They must avoid touching different things, carry hand sanitizer with them, wear face masks/face shields and hand gloves, etc.

Safety measures to be taken by NTA: This year NTA will also follow the safety measures at the examination centre as prescribed by the health ministry.

Self-declaration form to notify health status: As per the JEE Main 2020 exam guidelines released by NTA, students are required to fill a self-declaration form to notify about their health status and any recent travel history and submit it when they appear for the examinations.

JEE Main 2020: COVID-19 safety measures to be followed at exam centre

  • Students will have to clean their hands with soaps and with hand sanitizer at the entry gate of examination centre
  • The centre will have Foot Operated Sanitizer Dispenser deployed at various locations in the centre
  • Candidates are required to wear freshly provided face maks at the examination centre
  • The candidates will be required to remove the mask by home and they will be offered a fresh 3 Ply mask before entry
  • At the time of entry, the body temperature of students will be examined using thermos guns
  • Every JEE Main examination centre will be properly sanitized before the exam to ensure the safety of the students. 

JEE Main 2020: Do’s for this year

  • Self declaration undertaking form (filled and unsigned)
  • Printout of JEE Main 2020admit card
  • A simple and transparent ballpoint pen
  • Photo ID proof
  • Additional passport size photograph
  • Hand sanitizer (50 ml), transparent water bottle
  • PwD certificate (if applicable)
  • For BArch students – Drawing utensils (such as geometry box, pencils, erasers, colour pencils or crayons)

JEE Main 2020: Don’ts for this year

  • Do no carry any electronic gadgets inside the examination hall
  • Shoe/footwear with thick soles are not allowed
  • No candidate should adopt any unfair means while taking the exam as strict action will be taken against such candidate

JEE Main 2020: Entry and Exit rules for this year

  • As a precautionary measure for COVID-19, students will get the entry in a phased manner to avoid grouping
  • Students will be allowed to enter the test centers in different slots to maintain social distancing
  • Students must arrive at the examination center before the reporting time mentioned in the JEE Main 2020 admit card
  • Candidates will not be allowed to enter the examination center after the gate closing time
  • They will not be allowed to leave the exam hall before the end of the entrance test
  • Only one student will be able to move in and out of the hall one person at a time only
  • Candidates must wait for the instructions from the invigilator before leaving their seats
  • There will be a proper distance between the seats of the students to avoid any kind of contact
