Weightage assigned:
For each correct answer four marks will be allotted
For each incorrect answer minus one mark will be deducted
For each unanswered question no mark will be allotted
The total CMAT marks will be calculated by totaling marks gained or lost in each question
The all India rank and merit list of CMAT is arrived upon on the basis of overall CMAT 2021 result. In case, CMAT score of more than one candidates are same, the ranking is done on the basis of sectional scores considered in the following order:
1. Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation
2. Logical Reasoning
3. Language Comprehension
4. General Awareness
CMAT percentile score is calculated on the basis of rank vs total number of candidates. Given below is the formula for calculating CMAT percentile. Check the formula prescribed by NTA below:
Formula to Calculate CMAT Percentile:
Percentile P = 100 x Number of candidates appeared in the examination with raw marks equal to or less than the candidate/Total number of candidates appeared
For example, if about 10,000 candidates appeared in CMAT and a candidate scored highest marks (350/400). Since they have scored the highest in exam, their rank will be 1 and CMAT percentile score will be: 100 x 9999/10,000= 99.99
CMAT rank can also be calculated with the below given formula:
10,000 – 1/10,000 x 100 = 99.99.
Take a look at the image below for reference:
To illustrate the above process better, here is an example. In CMAT 2018, three candidates scored 100 percentile with Atul Nimish Kulkarni topping the exam with 341 marks. He was followed by Jhalak Singhal and Maitri Chawra. They both scored 335 marks but their overall percentile was 100. Five candidates scored 99.99 percentile (overall) while seven candidates scored 99.98 percentile (overall).
Two or more candidates getting same rank: In case more than one candidate secure same ranking, the same rank will be assigned to all of them but will be displayed by sorting their names alphabetically. The CMAT rank of the subsequent candidate will then be extended by the number of additional students having the same rank. Eg: if three students are at 25th Rank then subsequent student will be ranked as 28th.
